IMO, people should stop doing the role-thinking entirely.

There is only one role: Teamplayer.
And said role is defined by using the tools one is given to the best benefit of the group.

Said role even exists in games without defined roles, because it is through this role that other roles are defined - You suddenly take the role of "mid-laner". Or support. Or bait. Or tank. Or errand boy. Or siege breaker. Or cover fire. It varies wildly between games. But in all cases, your toolkit comes first, your role emerges from the toolkit - You can give a super squishy character with tons of burst damage and no mitigation the role of tank, but it will be expected to be played as damage dealer instead, because the role depends on the toolkit, not on what the label says.
MOBAs actually are a great example here - They never had defined roles. In spite of that, they now do. Roles emerged naturally from the fact that some toolkits are better for certain tasks than others. And applying role think to them leads to people not buying wards on principle because "That's the support's job." Everyone loves these guys.

It really grinds "my" gears that people to this day haven't understood that part. It's so fundamental in multiplayer gaming since online gaming became a thing and prevalent in pretty much every one of them that it should be common knowledge by now. It's based on a principle of social consideration - the same thing that asks you to not fart in a crowded elevator if you can help it. Sure, it doesn't kill anyone but only stinks a bit and gives you some relief, but it's still impolite. Sure, the tools you're given change and the best effect differs as well, but the principle is always there.

When a boss is at 3%, and someone uses a ranged LB3...and then someone tells them they should have saved it for the melee, and how that was a waste of an LB.

Well. Melee should have used it before 3%. I give them until 10%, and if they haven't used it, I do. As a ranged DPS. Better I use it then it go away at the next boss. :v Tell me which one sounds like a bigger waste. /sarcasm

Yeah but how many ranged people who do this wait for 3 percent. The fact of the matter is that many of them use it because its so cool looking. They'll even say so when called out on it.

People who complain about Anima steps being tedious while not utilizing every ressource available. One of my friends complained about the Crystal Sand step.
Did they have a crafter to use Crafter's Scrips? No. Did they have a GC squadron with affinities that grant you Scrips? No, of course not. GC squads "seemed boring". Did they do weekly raids for Allagan Catalysts / Mhachi items? Kind of, but ARR raids "suck" anyway because of queues, so why do them. Right?

    tl;dr:
Don't complain about anima steps if you are too lazy to venture into other parts of the game.

Players not using their offensive, defensive and healing increasing buffs. I never understood that part about people, its a skill that is there to be used so you can do more damage, get less damage or your healing spells, heal more. Still 75% of players with whom, I do dungeon with never use their buffs.

If everyone were using their buffs, Tanks would require less healing, DPS would would do more damage and Healers would be doing more damage and less healing.

Constantly dead person wins all the loot. Bonus points if it is a primal mount.

or worse, they joined at the final boss, but they were locked out of the fight and end up winning the item.

Why do some melee wait until the boss is at 3%? All DPS do it; not just a particular kind.

Like I said before, I give them until 10%. If the LB3 hasn't been used by then (and if I don't think we'll need healer LB), then I use it. It's a waste to wait until 5% or less. :/
