While character creation is much more complex in ESO. Gear on the other hand is much more bland and simple. ESO uses generic easily deformed "bucket" helmets to make creating gear easier with the Argonians and Khajit muzzles.
I do wish we could make our characters as dark in FF.That happens in most games with large customization. Some players just can't be bothered and just copy someone else's. I had very unique characters in ESO, enough to have others ask for sliders. Kept them to myself for that reason. Was even able to make a Dunmer still look great at stage 4 vampirism. That's a feat and a half.
Well that's only helmets. Times like 20 styles, not that much to work on, is it?
Whereas FFXIV went with a crazy wide variety of gear. There are 1086 headpieces currently and most models are used far less that 7 times. Even with every model being shared 7 times (which isn't happening) you have 155 models that would need to be adjusted for races with muzzles.
Issue isn't only the head, people have been suggesting things like claws, wings, and even full animal legs (no feet, but paws). That is all of a sudden a lot more to work on.Whereas FFXIV went with a crazy wide variety of gear. There are 1086 headpieces currently and most models are used far less that 7 times. And that is also a great idea. What's wrong with another human-ish race? Vampires, Imperials... In worse case, Goblins.

Why not just add the option of sharp teeth/third eye in Hyur customization and call it a day?
While you're add it, also throw in some bunny ears for the Viera fans. Because if your race isn't going to be more than a human with a slight addition, you might as well just make it a slight addition. Half our races can easily be made from a Breton with a modded character editor in skyrim >_>
Well Imperials have a third eye on their foreheads, goblins are mean lallafells, and vampires like the Witcher are pretty okay as they are.. No need for a modded Hyur. Why not just add the option of sharp teeth/third eye in Hyur customization and call it a day?

Just giving a sense of scale to the job and the reason why, even though other games did it, it is not viable for FFXIV to add more bestial pc races.
