While character creation is much more complex in ESO. Gear on the other hand is much more bland and simple. ESO uses generic easily deformed "bucket" helmets to make creating gear easier with the Argonians and Khajit muzzles.

I do wish we could make our characters as dark in FF.That happens in most games with large customization. Some players just can't be bothered and just copy someone else's. I had very unique characters in ESO, enough to have others ask for sliders. Kept them to myself for that reason. Was even able to make a Dunmer still look great at stage 4 vampirism. That's a feat and a half.
Well that's only helmets. Times like 20 styles, not that much to work on, is it?
Whereas FFXIV went with a crazy wide variety of gear. There are 1086 headpieces currently and most models are used far less that 7 times. Even with every model being shared 7 times (which isn't happening) you have 155 models that would need to be adjusted for races with muzzles.
If they are willing to take creative liberties they could. They have already said that they will never make a playable race without human legs/feet/hands, as it would mess up the current armours and they don't wanna rework every model ingame and future ones.
So I would asume that goes for the head aswell.
So sorry, no "true" beast race possible. Only thing we can hope for are more Humans with animal ears/tails.
By creative liberties I pretty much mean, unique beastial races with unique body forms compared to the current races could have a restriction to the visual designs of gear.
In the sense that say the 1-60 gear they only have 5-10 sets and a majority of the sets share with one another. It would allow them to add in said race with the trade off being their visual gear will have less variety compared to the other races.
If this wasn't possible then why did they show the concept art for it and then put an actual vote to the player base for what type of race should come next. Yes it probably isn't going to look exactly like that, but it doesn't mean they can't produce some sort of race more closer to beast than human. At present SE idea of a new race is stick on some features that could easily be added to any race during character customisation. They have already said that they will never make a playable race without human legs/feet/hands, as it would mess up the current armours and they don't wanna rework every model ingame and future ones.
So I would asume that goes for the head aswell.

If headpiece is the main problem then make the headpiece permanently invisible for that race by disabling the on/off toggle.

No idea. I all know is that they said that they will never make a playable race without human legs/feet/hands because they would have to rework all the armours/clothes etc in the game to fit the new skeleton structure, and they said that they will not do that.
And I can only asume that goes for the head aswell, they would have to rework all the head gears aswell.
That is too bad, I have always hoped that they would add in some sort of "dog like" player race. Neko girls are so 1990's.
I vote for K9 master race, and when in a full party, they get a "pack buff"
I would like that or a humanoid one. But im sure people will say Miqotes can looks like a wolf ....But they act like a kitty , no like a wolf , ears and tail are different :'(

Au Ra is a race that has never been in other Final Fantasy games.
