I won't simply throw away a weapon like that to skip a simple step in the next new relic. I'm proud of building a weapon like that, it's just a shame that SE believes the time put into those aren't worth keeping them up to level and relevant, if they make new quests for those relics people will continue to build those and use those.

You're looking at it backwards. The Anima questline is, essentially, a continuation of the level 50 relic weapon. But, you have an option to skip the level 50 portion if you do an extra step. The relic weapons are one giant line already.
