You have a source on that? Because I find that very unlikely from personal experience.

Everquest, Everquest 2, Elder Scrolls Online (Bretons with a slider could determine how much elf lineage), Dungeons and Dragons Online, Neverwinter, ect all had Half Elves as a playable race. Some others have had other halfbreeds available (half orcs being one of the most common). I've never seen halfbreeds actually overtake their base counterparts. At best they've been equal to humans (with elves usually having more than humans).

Even in Everquest where Half Elves have a decent starting advantage on some servers knowing both Common/Human Tongue and Elvish, (as well as a class language if present), and able to wear both medium and small sized armor, they were still either the same size in population or smaller than humans and wood elves (there were two other races of elves as well).
