Tattoos, Butts, and Half Breeds...

First off I would like to say that it would be amazing if you guys implemented a few things. I have been playing and have been a subscriber since ARR Launch and have NEVER canceled my subscription since I played this game.

1.) Tattoos: It would be amazing if we had some body tattoos and stuff like that. I have ALWAYS WANTED a Scion/Sharlayan Tattoo for RP purposes.

2.) Butts: You do have a breast slider during character creation but why not a butt slider too? I also noticed that we have been given flat booties since 1.0 and apparently a number of people have too.

3.) Half Breeds: Since Hilda was introduced I have wanted to make a Half Hyur Half Elezen character. I think it would be pretty amazing to introduce half races since we have seen our first one in Heavensward.

yoshida already stated he will look into extra customization of the characters in the last interview. He didn't mention any thing concerning had breeds and I am sure he will not put the effort into them.

I personally do not like half breeds.
It is just something I feel that ruins the rest of the pureblood races in the game. I also doubt that they would go through the effort judging by the simple character creation we have now.

I think in this latest live letter (maybe it was the Korean one, not sure), he mentioned that it would be easier to add things like tattoos and such as an item rather than to the character creation screen.

Can't see Half-Breeds being added myself. They're rare lorewise. Granted we're the Warrior of Light and all, but still.

Then there are some cases where its a bit of a, 'Does it really change anything?' Like a female Miqo'te-Hyur would still look like a female Miqo'te more or less. I suppose you could slap ears and a tail on male Hyur and it would actually look different though, but SE doesn't seem to go out of their way to give male characters anything special as far as appearance options go.

It'd be nice to see halfbreeds of Elezen and Hyur since they share the same progenitor. All the other races as far as I know can't intermingle with others, as well... they don't have that common ancestor.

This is the first I've heard of this, and I'm usually pretty up-to-snuff on my game lore. Where is it ever stated that Elezen and Hyur have the same progenitor? As far as I was aware, Elezen and Hyur are no more closely related than Lalafell and Au Ra.

Anyway, I doubt they'll casually add half-breed options. The devs already complain about character data limits (their excuse for why we don't have more than four faces, Au Ra horns tied to hairstyles, and so on). Giving players options for half-breeding like pointy ears, cat eyes, horns, whatever would probably blow the lid off of these limits. Yoshi P mentioned that they might be willing to look into a butt-slider, though, so there's hope!

Lalafell are rumored to be Allagan chimeras. This is lore from the fishing guide:

aetherochemical compound #123 - Unlike anything else on Eorzea, compound #123 is thought to be another of the Allagan Empire's failed chimerical creations. The creature seems to be harmless enough, feeding only on the tiny water lice which inhabit Azys Lla's aetherochemical pools. Its outer hide, however, has given many a naturalist pause as it bears a texture almost identical to that of a Lalafell's skin. A larger, more evolved form can be caught that has "Lalafellin-like hands".

aetherochemical compound #666 - A king among aetherochemical compounds, and lord of the aetherochemical spill. When a specimen of what, at the time, was thought to be compound #123 began sprouting tiny...decidedly Lalafellin...hands, no fewer than three Sons of Saint Coinach naturalists turned in their resignations with the organization and have since disappeared from the public eye.


As for Miqo'te, they are rumored to have been from Meracydian or at least be migrating to and fro. There is the chance that they could also have been tampered genetically with Allagan technology. But here's some stuff that could allude to the origins:

Sesame Seeds:
A tiny seed rich in aromatic oil, sesame is native to Meracydia, and thought to have first been brought to Eorzea by migrating Miqo'te.

Aloe:
A thick spiny-leaved cactus indigenous to the southern continent of Meracydia. The Miqo'te are known to treat severe burns with the cool gel-like substance found inside the leaves.



There is a possibility that Miqo'te could breed with humans but at the same time, they are pretty different than the other races. Elezen and Hyur by far are the most similar to each other as they have no animal features.

Also, Sophia is a goddess of Merycidia, like Zurvan and Sephirot. Seph was worshipped by tree people who are presumably extinct. Sophia was worshipped by the races of man. Interestingly enough her tempered followers we find who were imprisoned with her are a hyur, an elezen, and a roegadyn. Likewise, they're all in Syrcus Tower gear, which is - lore wise - traditional Allagan garb
So it's possible her 'worshippers' were Allagan citizens tasked with watching her Three races with confirmed origins that pre-date the Allagan empire.

edit: Miqo'te as we know them are from a progenitor race that went extinct and there's almost no documented history about miqo'te prior to the fifth umbral era. "Descendants of the very same miqoo'te who were persecuted against and driven from Eorzea by the Allagan Empire almost two millennia earlier". So it's possible they were their own thing.
But it's also possible they were failed experiments that got out of control.

All interesting, albeit stuff I already knew! However, none of it addresses your claim that Elezen and Hyur have the same progenitor, other than you mentioning that they "are the most similar to each other as they have no animal features". I was hoping you had some kind of official source that linked these two races to a common ancestor, but it appears to just be speculation.

It's my personal speculation that ALL of the so-called "spoken races" have a common ancestor - Hyur, Lalafell, Au Ra, even Garleans - and what we have today is akin to different breeds of dogs. Dogs breeds have amazingly diverse appearance, and yet are all genetically similar. However, this is just speculation, and I would make no authoritive claim to the contrary.

(As for the aetherochemical compounds - if you want to try to make them out to be more than the throwaway gag that was most likely intended, nothing about them states that Lalafell were the results of chimerical experimentation. It only states that the COMPOUNDS were. It seems much more likely that Lalafell were victims of the experimentation. I read it as implying that Allagans processed poor Lalafell victims INTO the compounds, not that they created Lalafell FROM the compounds!)

Isn't it rumoured that Miqo'te are Allagan experiments too? I remember seeing a post somewhere else that hinted at that based around the ruins in Azys Lla having the Miqo'te deities symbols carved all over them, like they were plucked up from the ground somewhere and transported for experiments.
