Kicked from DR Leveling because I don't slot Protect for low level dungeons?

The only people who argue that Protect should be prioritized at all in the lowest level dungeons are people who have no idea about how little it actually does. As a Scholar especially, I literally do not even need to heal those dungeons. If they wanna start up a fight because they can't do math, they don't deserve a clear.

I will never succumb to peer pressure, and if they want to kick me, that's fine, they can wait for another healer who might not even know how to play.

I am not advocating against optimizing your cross class skills and game play. All I am saying is that, introducing such concepts to brand-new players do more harm than good. Let them learn how to walk first.

If you want to optimize your play style. Do it at end game, where it actually matters.

Where did I say, or anyone else in this thread say, that brand new players have to do exactly what we do? I also do not go around telling new players to play like I do so not sure why you are telling me not to introduce those concepts to new players.

OP is a returning player, not a brand new player, so I am now thinking you have misunderstood something here?

I like to play my healer at max potential no matter what content I am in. It helps the run go faster for everyone and it is more fun for me. Purposefully gimping myself in case new players might try to copy me is just silly. It's like telling a DPS or tank "make sure you only use a couple of skills, you don't want to confuse the new players by playing too efficiently"

I know how to play since I've been playing a long time I am not going to purposefully play with less skill than I have. I also don't think new players are mindless imitate zombies like you think they are. I am a mentor and I assure you most players from new to old have their own opinions and ideas about how to play.

The majority of the FFXIV player base is teens to adults I don't think we need to coddle new players as if they are children who might imitate bad words from their parents.

No, it really doesn't do that. All it does is promote a Raiding Meta as the default way to play long before it's needed or even appropriate. When you get to the level 50 dungeons and up, what you're talking about begins to matter more, but when people are still learning how to play - the sub 50 dungeons are the game's tutorial - you could at least let people learn to play their role and job before fostering a raiding mentality.

The thread is about a healer who was kicked for prioritizing Cleric over Protect in the low level dungeon. Presumably, him doing that means he's already comfortable with cleric stance and understands the healing meta. Since its a four man, we can assume he was the only healer there, and thus the only person who really HAD to worry about the extra healing (.4 damage per hit I guess?) was him.

What you said applies if people are forcing people to cross and use Cleric over Protect on Sastasha, I can agree there, but he didn't deserve to be kicked because he prioritized what he felt comfortable with.

Cleric is a better choice and I did the same. Was never kicked but I was constantly worried about someone complaining about it.

People should learn to play their jobs effectively, whether they're raiding or not, especially if they're not, because non-raiders spend a higher percentage of their playtime dungeoning with strangers. It's not a raid meta. It's a don't waste everyone's time meta.

flip protect to 1st before going into dungeon, cast protect and flip it to 3rd again, wait 1 minute and go into cleric stance and enjoy the rest of the dungeon. solved.
PS make sure fairy is out before you flip the skill slit.

LMAO wow u got kicked I play AST and never have protect on 1st cross class slot. Oh suppose I have this to come but to be honest I really wouldn't be bothered getting the kick. If you really need to get it out of your system let the next tank die in your next duty lol

Why mess about only person it effects is the healer and if they can heal without it then get on with the dungeon.

I tend to just go with the flow, even if scientifically theyre saving 1 percent overall damage, its just always been the thing since 2.0. Why piss others off to prove a point? its how people get kicked...

as for scholar, the 1 minute cooldown lockout to switch isnt even that detrimental when fairy doing all the healing.

Nope I have done the same since 2.0 I have never had protect as my first action. Protect also shouldn't even be a cross class action same as provoke both should be standard on all tanks and healers.

If I was your tank, and did not carry Flash, Provoke, or whatever, would you want me to stay? Choose wisely, because if you take aggro due to healing me, I can't Provoke the add off you.

Not having Protect shows you don't care for your job, others, the game, or yourself.
