Kicked from DR Leveling because I don't slot Protect for low level dungeons?

I was healing as a Scholar. I'm just kinda confused about this. I'm guessing I queued into a group of less than average thinkers, but yeah. I recently returned to the game and am wondering if this is normal?

I slot Protect 3rd. I mean, you don't even really heal in the dungeons >lvl30 and below as a Scholar right? 90% of it is through Eos. I always thought Cleric Stance and Aero would take precedent. And even arguably Swiftcast, before the need for Protect really comes into play content wise.

Am I wrong about this?

Nah you aren't wrong. Cleric stance should be in first slot for SCH and AST.

Protect helps some sure, but at low levels your DPS helps a lot more. Also I am not sure why other players get snippy about it since you are the one who has to heal without it...it isn't really an issue for them?

Ignore it and continue with what you are doing since overall it is the better option.

I usually slot Protect second but Aero is good too and since you are the one doing the healing no one else should logically have issue with it.

On a personal level, I agree with the logic regarding Protect as the fairy has more than enough healing power to handle anything pre-30 with relatively little issue. With that being said, just to avoid any concerns is I activate Cleric Stance then swap Cleric Stance from slot 1 to whatever slot Protect is one so I can get Protect cast in 30s. I get to keep Cleric Stance, I just can't turn it off. I don't usually bother to swap back the cross class as you can still heal decently even with Cleric Stance on if the crap does hit the fan for some inexplicable reason.

I don't agree with him being kicked, but unfortunately it falls under the "Difference in playstyles" clause the GM's use sometimes.

I used to be of the same mindset, but I got over it pretty quick. I never kicked people though, I just had protect cross classed for leveling anyway XD

Easiest way around arguing with people about this: slot it first before you queue for a >30 dungeon or leveling roulette. Cast protect. Swap protect to the higher slot. By the time the tank or party needs heals your abilities should be off cool down.

^ This. Plus I think with SCH, the fairy should be able to take care of healing even while waiting for cooldowns to come back up.

Yeah if you are comfortable with it the suggestion of casting Protect then quickly changing it back to Cleric works also.

I don't agree with them kicking you, but I am of the opinion that Protect should have a higher cross-class priority than Cleric Stance. I understand that lower level dungeons don't really require as much healing as later dungeons, but to not protect your party as a healer is just bad form.

Protect is a necessary form of mitigation that shouldn't be ignored. Why build a bad habit early when you can avoid it?
