Look again for Botanist. It says the requirement is 230, and it'll say you've achieved it at 230, but the real number is 231, at which point you DO get the new shiny tool (that only those smacking a tree at the same time as you will ever see).
There was a confirmed bug that the achievement wasn't being unlocked for those who had already hit the target. There was a hotfix two days later fixing the botany bug. If you smacked a tree in the two days before the hotfix, the achievement would not trigger. Now it does. The timeframe of the original post and followups matter in this case.
Miner is still broken. Maybe will be fixed with tomorrow's patch.
Glad someone confirmed this. Thought I was doing something dumb, and have checked my mining log like 100 times looking for the things I've "missed" as only ever at 154/160
Thought was either me being an idiot, or something you can only achieve when they add new things to mine
Edit: Yes it's been lowered to 150 in hotfix

I looked at the craft requirements and didn't bother, too much pointless grinding. The mining ones should be "catch-up" as you said, but they aren't either. You need min 860 gather because some HW 3 stars are needed to make the total, as well as grinding out all the books. The fisher one is as bad as the craft, you need to catch practically every single fish, folklore included.
the game has 484 different fish, getting 460 isnt that bad, you can skip many annoying ones. And those tools are still catch up items for people with crafted 170 gearI looked at the craft requirements and didn't bother, too much pointless grinding. 460 fish is certainly far more work than 140 mining items or 230 botany items, particularly when no minng/botany requires specific weather. and you can't say they are "catch up" when they require full HW 3 star starts - you are not doing them with ilvl 180 gear.
as the OP said, the requirements are all over the shop. The mining/botany is reasonable (bar the 200 requirement), the rest including the craft ones are far more work for the same thing.
CUL is ok where it is too. But that's just because there aren't as many CUL recipes and there are no true rare crafting mats for the CUL recipe (ie: true rare mats being say some savage drops.)460 fish is certainly far more work than 140 mining items or 230 botany items, particularly when no minng/botany requires specific weather. and you can't say they are "catch up" when they require full HW 3 star starts - you are not doing them with ilvl 180 gear.

its the 3.0 version of luminary tools, which also required an unreasonable effort and were on par with the BiS tools when they released. The blessed tools arent meant as catch up, get over it. They are nothing but 100% glamour with okayish stats that people wont complain about those460 fish is certainly far more work than 140 mining items or 230 botany items, particularly when no minng/botany requires specific weather. and you can't say they are "catch up" when they require full HW 3 star starts - you are not doing them with ilvl 180 gear.

I am the one who has been saying they are clearly NOT "catch up" tools all along. They don't have "ok-ish stats" they have the highest ilvl and highest stats in the game without spending millions of gil on materia going down the gurgler - and you aren't getting them unless you already have mainly ilvl 200 gear already.
and the fist post is still 100% correct - the requirements per job are nowhere near equal. Cul needs to craft about 180 items - a carpenter and some of the others over 430. a min/bot have 150 and 230 respectively, yet a fisher needs 460 along with all the RNG they put up with.
