It's not just about being stripped naked though.
It's about flexibility and freedom.
It's about a system that scaled according to your level and class being a good, progressive feature which made FFXIV a leader in the industry rather than a follower.
There's been a LOT of complains with favored system, ence they changed it. You should know well...belgianrofl
Belgianrofl complained about the favoured system because he chose to play the wrong game. As did most people, i think. Wanting this game to be something it wasn't.
Favoured/Optimal system was amazing.
We never got to see if the optimal/favoured system would function economically with properly scaling stats and an informative interface, so your point is what was "rendered moot", not the system itself. Sorry.

It work in FFXI and that was not base of 1 char = 1class so i dont see the issue here and now that gear are easy to make i don't see the issue here. I'm level up my craft to 50 goldsmith, arm, blacksmith and going to sell things 50% off to help others issue we have now is that everyone selling things for w/e price. It works like this in every game because those games are stupid gear grinds where you can only play one class per character anyway. This game released with a working, progressive optimal/favoured system and yet it was canned for a generic restrictive system. Laughable.

There should be better variety of low to mid level gear for crafters and gatherers, other than that I'm okay with the new restrictions.
I have to laugh now whenever I change my class to a crafter to fix something and my pants fly off.
I preferred the optimal system too, and OP is right that we never got to see how that system would work when things like stats and the UI functioned properly. But, this system isn't bad either. There are pluses and negatives to both.
They just need to fix the whole color tied to required class and stats thing. That's the only real thing that burns me about this new system. I shouldn't have to look like a patchwork doll or wear one specific gear set to function. Fortunately, Yoshi has already stated this the current situation is just a stop gap so I'm willing to wait for now on that one.
your point is rendered moot by your apparent inability to check your attributes page to see the effect of the scaling pre-1.19
and frankly, the only "proper scaling stat" that wouldn't be harmful economically would be just as harsh as the required-lvl system, which leaves you with pretty much only aesthetics to argue for.
Wow, so you're saying it's possible to get all the same benefits of the restrictive system with an optimal system but with more aesthetic flexibility too. And you hate the system why?your point is rendered moot by your apparent inability to check your attributes page to see the effect of the scaling pre-1.19
