If they really are putting samurai in for SB and we already have ninja, what job will be the headliner for the inevitable expansion when we visit doma? Since thats the Eorzea equivalent of an Eastern land and all.

I think there was an interview where Yoshida said he would want Shogun as a tank with Samurai as DPS? Maybe that would be a headliner. Alchemist for some reason stands out to me as doing well for such as well.
Doesn't mean we will never visit Othard lol unless..
They'll never want to go back? Well if there won't be any expansion with that then I guess we are never leaving our continent? And if that's true then they can throw in samurai any time..like ninja...how boring.![]()
I think you mean Othard, seeing as Doma has been purged. But that's less to nitpick and more because we know from the Au Ra that Othard has both Japanese and Mongolian vibes (Raen and Xaela respectively). So it's possible we could get a classic job but with a more Mongolian theme to it. Beast Master would fit this completely.
That being said I still feel like SAM would do much more to sell 5.0 than using both RDM and SAM to sell 4.0.
Yea I agree Rhaja, if they used both those jobs for 4.0 I don't see any headliner for 5.0.
And ya I meant othard^^ was hoping to go there someday...hm.
MNK is the headliner for Stormblood at it has been in the game since launch.
Also most of the hints we have been getting seem to suggest we will be going to Garlemald proper in 5.0, not Doma. I doubt they will follow up a "Liberate a nation from the Garleans" expansion with another "Liberate a nation from the Garleans" one.
Except Heavensward was the headliner for Heavensward. There wasn't a singular job added in heavensward that was overly used in any marketing or representation. In fact arguably Machinist would be the one (if there was one) considering Yoshida made appearances dressed as one on a few occasions.
New jobs are a selling point for the expansion but they're hardly anything close to something considered a headliner. And in fact, the jobs the expansion's focused on were Dragoon for Heavensward and now Monk for Stormblood. Used in the cgi trailer and to represent our characters in promo material (the derplander). So the same can be done if we ever go Othard with Samurai no matter when it was added.
Also you assume we are ever going to Othard. FFXI went through how many expansion's before they ever stepped foot in the far east? And when they finally did in their last chapter, it was in an incredibly restrictive way and not a full fledged location.
The same will likely happen here, there's so many places we are far more likely to go that are much closer to Eorzea that it will be a very very long time before we are potentially heading to othard.

+ Screw how long it takes us to possible go to Othard (like you mentioned). Most people who say it would be boring don't actually mean that, they just don't want Samurai.
I get it. Some people aren't fans of SAM, but it's such a highly requested job... as for selling points for other expansion's? There's plenty of more jobs to cover to sell the game COUGH COUGH GUNSWORD COUGH COUGH. And then people say DRK was the selling point for HW. Those people forget a gun job was also highly requested so getting 2 highly requested jobs is no different then HW.
