I personally would be let down if they add Samurai in this expansion compared to blue mage. It doesn't fit with the Ala Mhigo theme and would be better suited in an Othard/Doma expansion along with geomancer.

No new races and only 2 new jobs makes for a sorry excuse of an expansion. SE knows about datamining and have trolled dataminers in the past. Here's hoping they are doing it again with those SAM files.

Red mage doesn't fit the Ala Mhigan theme either, seeing that it's clearly coming from Sharlaya. The new jobs don't need to be tied with Ala mhigo in the slightest, especially since they start out in 2.0 areas.

I don't know if this is considered "trolling", but nothing came of these. Also there are tons of files that never came of anything in the data mine stuff.

As far as the SAM files go in the dats, SCH was found the same way >.> During Beta 2.0 SCH dats were found and then there was the same arguments on the forums.. "It's not SCH!!! They wouldn't do that!" SE remained silent..and then SCH came out lol. I am leaning towards SAM being in the expansion now for sure, just waiting for the big man himself to confirm it.

Yeah I mean in HW only DRK had direct ties lore wise with Ishgard. Maybe Machinist too, but they seemed equally tied to the Empire.

Im just repeating what I heard from reddit regarding the trolling with relic icons. However why on earth would they put in the red mage and sam files now six months early when they know about data mining. Yoshida has specifically spoken out against data mining in live letters and interviews and how he wants them to stop. So why would they put this info on a big spoiler in a patch 6 months early from the expansion and 1 month early from the German Fan festival knowing that every patch will be mined for even the tiniest info or upcoming spoilers?

Personally it doesn't make sense nor the Sam Raimi samurai theory. Where did you get this info that Red mage comes from Sharlaya? Is it just because its a mage? Personally I think some people want Samurai so badly that they don't even want to entertain the idea that it could be something different.

Not every expansion needs a new race. XI had NO new races and didn't always add three jobs, and even WoW didn't add a new race on each of theirs OR that many more classes.

As for not fitting the "Ala Mhigo" theme...they don't HAVE to. Ninja doesn't fit an "Eorzean" theme yet it does well enough for itself. Astrologian also isn't an "Ishgardian" themed job but fit in quite nicely, and not many people were thinking "Machinist" or other gun jobs when it came to Ishgard. As well unlike the previous three jobs Red Mage and whatever the second job will be can be accessed prior to entering Ishgard so it could actually work out better not being tied directly to Ala Mhigo.

Sure, but they could have ended it with 20 :P I just dont find using monster skills interesting.

We understand placeholders. If this is the next job that means SE wanted us to find out before fan fest or they didn\\\\'t learn their lesson from the first time with SCH. They know if they put it in the game before fan fest someone would find it. These files could have been added in patch 3.55 or the next patch in March. They made this mistake once but twice is a little odd.
