FFXIV FOR THE NINTENDO SWITCH

I think you have to look at the sales of the console before making a big decision like that. If console sales are very low in the first year, then does it really make sense to put ffxiv on the Switch.

If the Switch doesnt have good 3rd party support and is only getting carried by the big 3 does it really make sense to appeal to a lower paying audience?

System holds a 2hr 30 minute charge playing skyrim, and that is a standalone title, perhaps half or roughly 2 hrs for online games.

Full honesty, I think the idea is novel and has merit in some regards but overall would not be a great idea for the game overall. The idea of FFXIV on the go like that is very much an appealing thought, but right now the tech isn't really there to allow it for prolonged periods of time outside of a Laptop. Would it be neat? Heck yeah! Would it be practical and beneficial to everyone? Heck no.

Knew I was going to find this topic right off the bat. Simple answer from me is NO. The switch isn't a power house console and with them dropping PS3 support with Stormblood, they don't need to be going back to support an inferior console again. Be happy with your PS4 support and call it a day. If anything, If Microsoft can get off their strict policies with MMO's, XIV would be a great candidate for the Scorpio coming out this fall.

It's actualy more powerful and doesn't suffer from RAM problems like PS3 did.

Source please. The only official information we have is about Zelda BOTW playing for 3 hours.

Couldn't care less for Microsoft. The thing with the Switch is that it's a HANDHELD. Releasing it on the Switch means a whole new audience will be coming to the game.

As an avid Nintendo fan, even I agree that XIV on the switch is a bad idea. I want XIV to improve its graphics, and functions as high as possible. I do not want another system making that near impossible. Please don't do this SE.

A version with lower graphics doesn't exclude the PC version having better graphics. That's why the game as configurable settings, so it can accomodate all sorts of machines.

Right, but a version that holds back feature design due to limited specs is bad. Hence the removal of the PS3 version.

So it would probably be the same with Nintendo. I swear to God FFXIV fanbase doesn't want the game to expand.

Switch would not help FFXIV expand. It's a setback. We're talking the equivalent of getting rid of PS3 just to turn around and bring in an overpriced tablet. Nintendo has never been at the top of the technological curve. They're a gimmick company.
