I thought it was the other way around? I remember a comment about how Yoshi-P said he wants to emphasis on the job identity more, I think doing what you mentioned would go against that. D:
What percentage of dancer do you assume she is then? She is clearly a monk by NPC standards. If you want to say that she is part dancer, then so is every other person who plays monk in this game. I thought this whole argument of cutscene/story npcs using otherworldly abilities that don't match up with FFXIV's armory system was debunked already. May I turn your attention once again to Alisae, Alphinaud, Thancred, Yshtola, Raubahn.
I always figured the girl in the trailer was Yda. She could be hiding her true job along with her face. So who knows? Alisaie was an interesting surprise. What percentage of dancer do you assume she is then? She is clearly a monk by NPC standards. I think there are much better T-shirt to announce the dancer....Edit: Course, as I'm typing this up all of these get listed on their own anyway, heh.
Could be Puppetmaster cause of web/strings.
Could be Dancer, cause he's pretty agile and generally graceful in movement. Could also be a type of acrobat styled job based on that too.
Some have theorized Blue Mage cause of getting abilities from a creature.
A few threw out the idea of Samurai, connecting Sam Raimi's name somehow.
Beyond that, I'm lost to any other possibilities.
And the whole Sam Raimi thing is wayyyyy too far fetched considering how clear and direct every other t-shirt have been.
007 - machinsit (gun/gadget)
batman - darknight (on top of that, batman is often refered as the dark night... so...)
scarlet witch - red mage, scarlet being a kind of red and witch being.. you know...
Personally, I'm going for Blue Mage or some kind of Puppetmaster, but I have a problem with both.
I have a problem with Blue Mage because they've announced the red mage, it would make this xpac a 3 caster xpac. (I'm assuming the Blue Mage would be a tank in this case)
Regarding the puppetmaster, this job is very famous in the FireEmblem serie, but non existent in FF. If we were in 5.0 or 6.0, I wouldn't say, but there are soooo many other iconic job could be added, Dancer, Beastmaster, TimeMage, Geomancer, just to name a few... that addidng a Puppetmaster would feel very out of place.
And just for the sake of making all people wrong with this god damn "Sam Raimi" I hope the Samurai won't be added this xpac.
That is what I said in my OP. I literally said that "she could be a jobless NPC like we've had before" or a mix of things lol. In fact you quoted it haha...What percentage of dancer do you assume she is then? She is clearly a monk by NPC standards. And what, a %? I don't have any certain %. As far as my own opinion is I think its more likely she is a DNC instead of a random NPC. Yoshida encouraged us to speculate so that is what I am doin. Sticking with my first impression...as my first impressions are usually the correct ones![]()
But...they aren't just random NPCs lol. They all have a core job/class that we can identify. The point is that they can use unique abilities outside of their class. By your original post, you acknowledge why people "can see" that she is a Monk, yet you would rather believe that she is either jobless or a Dancer. XDThat is what I said in my OP. I could see puppet master being the physical version of the summer... And that would actually make me sad lol.
But imagine. Puppet master. Dps
Some sort of shield and sword puppet
A puppet with a gun
And a monkey puppet. Lol
I think it's indicative of Samurai tank. That's my primary theory right now.
When I saw this trailer I thought Dancer when I saw her cloth sleeve and even more so when I saw her attack with it. My FFT-sense went off and there was no going back for me. I am 100% sure she is a Dancer, that said I am not sure if WE will get to be dancers though.I know however, monks do not fight with cloth and break the armory system we have by using a one handed retractable blade and cloth ><

I am not saying she is a dancer 100%, but I can confirm following the armory system this woman is not a monk by normal standards. Monks use two handed weapons..she just has the blade. (You can find more artwork of her with the blade and CGI images and read about it in interviews) The second the trailer was first shown my boyfriend and I looked at each other and jynx said "DANCER!!!" because, well..I do dancing for a living and we do Aerials all the time along with all the other stuff she did...so that is what instantly popped up in our head. The beginning part where it shows her looks exactly like a lot of the dances I do.
After that though, with the kicks and such..I can see where people relate it to a monk, for sure.
Anyway though, I would say...if she is not a dancer she is just simply a unique NPC with no particular job.
And to answer someone else asked why we see it as a FF dancer or how it fits in? I think just the way Yoshida put in MCH (It is nothing like the MCH in FF12 or FFT) I can see him doing the same with dancer. In the original FFT, Dancer was a pure debuffer and you would just try to hide them in a safe corner and dance. The dance would go off randomly and hit every monster on the field, regardless of how far away they were. Most dancers in the FF series were like this. The one in FFV was awful however, and barely did anything at all. It had an ability called "Flirt" haha.
So yeah, I would hope if Yoshida is bringing DNC to this game...he does not make it traditional at all, how lame would it be to just stand there and dance and randomly hit monsters in the entire instance? That does not even make sense. Of course it would have to change to fit into FFXIV as every job as thus far. Look at summoner...haha.
Also I wonder if people think SAM will be like SAM in FFT or the original FF Samurai. I guess you better have tons of inventory space because you'll need to carry around disposable swords. Also SAM was always VERY slow. In FFT it would take forever to get its turn...and then it would pull out the sword and either heal near by PT members, restore MP, or do some attack on near by mobs then go back to standing there. Oh and every time you took out the sword to use one of the Samurai's skills, it could break lol.
In FF5 SAM would throw money..haha. So just saying, its okay to put in traditional FF jobs..be it SAM or DNC, but they'd have to be changed a bit :P
I seriously don't see why she cannot be a dancer. Would it be much different from, say, SMN/SCH sharing Acanist as a class? MNK/DNC sharing Pugilist. Except we KNOW there won't be any class-sharing jobs against because SE is not happy with SMN/SCH sharing a class. I just find it silly to think that she can't be anything other than a MNK because her movements are obviously sharing strong similarities with Monks.
