DEV REQUEST: Remove Tome Cap or Cap per job in 4.0

FF14 has the luxury of being able to play all jobs on one character but it is being undermined by the END GAME TOME CAP. I believe the tome cap should be removed and for the sake of compromise have a TOME CAP of 450 PER JOB! A 3rd option would be to put a weekly cap on the amount of armor one can buy per week per job.

    What do you guys think?

I'd rather have alternatives to tome or raid gear, rather than a "weekly cap per job" that forces me to run even more boring expert roulettes in an attempt to maximize my gearing efficiency. That said, I agree with your overall sentiment, which is that with the number of jobs we currently have, with more being added in 4.0, it seems kind of stupid to assume that players will be satisfied only playing one thing for the first 2-3 months of a gear tier's life cycle.

I just don't want anymore emphasis on tomes in general.

You have the luxury of playing all jobs to 60, not the luxury of gearing all of them at once. This is broken on so many levels. Just remember the limitations are not there just for the hell of it. You can't just get all of your ilvl260 gear in a day and be ready for raiding. You are just blowing through content and a patch's longevity is severely lowered than it already is.

Making an uncapped tome stone system would mean they would have to greatly increase the amount of tomes required for a piece. Which in turn means even more grinding, and people will get sick of that real fast. More so than it currently is.

SE by the odd patch at least gives you more opportunity to gear multiple jobs anyways. Primals, 24-man, Diadem (well in 3.55 anyways), normal mode raids, crafting, and so on.

You're not supposed to equip all your jobs at once.
You're not supposed to have advantages over other people because you have more free time to play.

    Next question plz.

I'd go with a simple fix - Instead of buying the armor pieces, you buy slots with the capped tomes. Once a slot is unlocked, you get one item for that slot free and can from then on buy all other pieces for that slot with uncapped tomes.

Then we just need a conversion from capped to uncapped tomes for those who have unlocked all slots and you're done. Overall gear progression speed remains the same and the best of it, uncapped tomes come from quite varied sources, so you don't have to grind only one thing for it.

This I agree with you there, not sure what they can do but hope they have a good plan or something in the works

^ this a 1000x this. This would fix the problems with gearing right now. You could really play what you want when you want. It would be amazing and it'd keep me subbing more often.

If anything, they'll just raise the weekly cap just a little bit like they did with Poetics months before Heavensward released
