I like leveling as well.
I don't understand the whole like Ranged DPS and melee thing. Does this mean they are going to punish point blank casting now or... are they just saying it can be cast from a range like nin? Or is it just like a stance thing?... confused. This past week, I feel like I'm the only person that likes leveling anymore![]()
Not that it matters much for me, but 30 would have been an understandable place to start because that is when you get job stone.
Like, seriously, all I would have done the first hour or so was work out bars and read tool tips, could have spent that time actually playing, instead of just reading the manual.

Me: "Aww man I'm clicking all the wrong buttons tonight!"
Friend: "You're i190, you can't click a wrong button unless it is no buttons"
Me: "lol"
Guess you'll have to be disappointed then.

The negative about start at 50 is less job story. We have training dummies to practice our rotations on, or go back and take up the hall of novice...between all this and talking with FC / Friends, there seems to be very little reason not to learn your job even if it starts at 50. 50 is perfect, it gives people 20 levels to mess with. Stock up on some casting stuff and head out into the world.
The class story got skipped. The class is builded into the job.
All the skills you have as AST at lv 30 and all the other skills you get by level up without questing? Those are technically class skills.

No, it's not less story. It'll more or less have something similar we have now. Having job quests at much lower levels would mean either we'd get a ton of filler or they'd be all spaced apart because the devs aren't going to write a ton of job quests.
What would be nice is if they gave us a choice of what level we want to start the jobs at once they become unlocked...That way those of us who want to start at level 1 can do so...Those who want 30 can and those who want 50 can ..This way everyone is happy.
Lol. I'd hardly count giving folk ready access to all classes as "coddling". There are plenty of goals to work toward in the game that don't revolve around such a fundamental choice that can so directly impact enjoyment of a game.
I don't really see how it is a "goal" to go back to ARR zones just to level up the new job from level 1 again. I don't want to keep having to do years old content in next few expansion packs.
You're mixing up two completely opposed arguments, at least I think you are referencing the "goal" that THunda_cat was talking about.
Regardless, leveling up a job from scratch is kind of how things work, particularly in MMOs... If anything, wanting it to start at 50 feels like "coddling" (to borrow Thunda_cat's word).
