Agree with this 100%It isn't quite the same. The Overwatch community doesn't care if you buy lootboxes, or how many. Doing so isn't expected of you, and the only thing in them are skins. Cosmetic items. Like Yoshida said the mogstation would be.
But this is not the same. Yoshida admits that the MSQ presents a very real problem to new players coming into the game. That's not debatable. But expecting new players to shell out even more money in order to "solve" a problem SE has failed to address? That's not right.
You're assuming a newbie will feel pressured/forced into purchasing it, though. If a newbie wants to enjoy the story/levelling process, then they will REGARDLESS of how far behind they are. A newbie unsure about whether they're going to play the game for more than a month will also never buy the potions, as that could be a waste of money to them if they decide the game isn't for them.It isn't quite the same. PTW does not have to be a "huge" advantage. It simply has to be an advantage purchased with out-of-game currency.Because the ONLY advantage is "hey I didn't spend 4 days to level." If that's a huge advantage to you, then I don't know what to tell you. There are going to be plenty of players who don't want to use it and level the traditional way. So, still not a p2w advantage, good try though.
People really hate it when this is brought up, but with the precedent of PTW in the form of monthly rental payments for additional retainers, I don't think "but its PTW!" arguments will work in trying to shout down this obscenity they're calling a jump potion. Both because people will refuse to see it as PTW, and because PTW already exists in this game.
You failed to understand DrStiles argument. He is not arguing that people are being pressured into it in this post. He is arguing that the MSQ presents a very real problem to new players because it is essentially a giant wall blocking them off from content. He is not arguing whether they want to enjoy the story or not. What he is saying is that the giant MSQ wall is so frustrating and time consuming that it will chase new players away. Instead of fixing this issue for everyone thru patches/changes, SE decided to charge people for an issue on their end instead of applying fixes to accommodate those new players. You're assuming a newbie will feel pressured/forced into purchasing it, though. Id have to disagree with this , the arr story and the hw story can easily be finished withing a months time Ive seen many people do it. This is a cash grab at the end of the day and Im ok with that but Im gona call it wat it is. But money is good for everyone in the community lets just hope they use it wiselyYou failed to understand DrStiles argument. He is not arguing that people are being pressured into it in this post. The W stands for Win. What are they winning?
That's a fair point. Someone who is unsure about playing the game probably won't pay immediately. You're assuming a newbie will feel pressured/forced into purchasing it, though. But think about this for a moment. Based upon what we know of Stormblood, and how it ties into patch 3.5 and 3.55, it is very likely that it will continue along the MSQ in a linear fashion, similar to Heavensward. Now there are 2 expansions worth of content to trudge through if you want to join your friends. If this pattern continues, it is only a matter of time before it becomes unreasonable to expect new players to reach the rest of us "legitimately".

Its fine if you disagree but keep in mind what is said here.
I don't have the source of where yoshida made this claim but if you take this into account then that means the MSQ presents a real issue for new players. Whether you wish to acknowledge that or not to believe that is up to you.
Not every new player is going to move at the same pace or be able to endure the MSQ. Some will just outright leave.
That's it, though. It depends on whether the newbie is buying this game to play with friends (specifically) or not. The one thing SE needs to not do is lock new Jobs behind ARR and HW. I've more or less given up on them doing things the FFXI way. That's a fair point. Someone who is unsure about playing the game probably won't pay immediately.
