    I adjust my tanking style to fit the group I am in based on a quick look at their gear and their performance in the first pull. However, it is true that most people expect tanks in 50 and 60 dungeons to pull big... sometimes excessively so. It is also true your typical random DPSer in DF is terrible and does a mere fraction of the damage output they could do which makes those big pulls more strenuous on the tank and healer <_<

    Personally I prefer a smooth run over a fast run. They can certainly be both but if I decide to pug into DF I have no problem doing small pulls if that is all the group can handle.

    A lot of people are pointing out their lack of ability to understand people who don't want to waste 5 minutes (or even so they can just waste 5 minutes in Idyllshire).

    This shows a lack of understanding with the problem, at least for me anyway. My issue is not that my time is wasted, when I do a run that is 22 minutes instead of 12, I am not concerned that things took 10 minutes longer. My issue is that it converts 12 minutes of a fun activity into 22 minutes of a not-fun activity. It's less about the time wasted, and more about the conversion or loss of fun. It's not fun for me to have to fumble with aetherflow, because the timing doesn't work properly on it for 1-group pulls. It's not fun for me to move slowly, when I know we could easily be moving faster. It's not about 10 wasted minutes, it's about 12 minutes of fun stolen.

    Will I continue on in a slow running dungeon? Yes. I won't say anything, I'll just run it.

    Luckily, 9 out of 10 runs are quick where people pull full groups. So, at least 90% of the time, I get to have fun.

    I'm surprised so many people fell into the "five minutes" trap. I'm not going to have that argument. I'm going to preface this with I'm in no way heartless. If someone says theyre new, undergeared(they could have been gone and just returned to eorzea who knows), sick, drunk(that ones iffy but w/e), or whatever of course u just bite the bullet and deal with it. It happens. Thing is, both in game and here there's this over-arching attitude that any healer or dps not performing to the best of their ability and potential is trash. There is very much a "community standard" and its not locked into these forums. I once, a fair while ago mind you, had 2 bards with decent gear spawn into 'Reap and it took almost the full half hour to clear, thats how bad they were. Would you say "oh thats just their playstyle" or would u say something about them not trying and being carried?

    I'm sorry but if you spawn into library hard or xephalotl with some mix of lore, scrip,weeping, and/or alex gear and youre single pulling; im not going to start the vote kick but I'll vote yes on it. At this stage of the game with level 60 and everyone doing filler while waiting on the next expansion a single pulling tank in light party dungeons with no grasp on CD use or aoe hate is wasting my potential as a dps,insulting me as a healer, and embarrassing me as a tank who can randomly throw out an unleash/abyssal drain to establish and hold hate on 6+ trash mobs.

    If there's a BLM and/or SMN in the party, it's recommend to pull two groups or more. Especially if there's a BRD/MCH in the group who use their abilities that "buff" the Mages attacks.

    If you're spending 30+ minutes in level 50 or 60 dungeons, the issue isn't the size of the packs the tank is pulling.

    I don't mind too much when the tank wants to go one pack at a time, but it annoys the hell out of me when a tank is following 10 steps behind the rest of the group and pulling one pack at a time.

    I think all about tankin styles my self i start in wow small pull back vanilla and that what i good with. we each have different strength and weakness. we must make use them.

    I pull small groups mainly because I rarely ever do any dungeon more than once a month and can't remember where the mobs are, which path to take, etc. I don't cap dailies or anything so if I am in a dungeon que, it's usually a story requirement in which case I'm probably barely at ilvl to run it, not completely overgeared like 90% of the playerbase here it seems. So the rest of the party who are only in here for WT and sitting at 100+ ilvls over me make it impossible for me to hold aggro on anything more than a few enemies. Oh boy, then when one of the healers gets aggro'd and tries to run back to the starting point or something instead of bringing them in front of me...

    It's also been my experience in DF that when I happen to pull more than one pack at a time, the healer shits the bed and lets me die. That's a lot more wasted time and less fun than just pulling what I know everyone can manage.

    Dungeons at max level (and most leveling) don't have multiple paths. You are literally funnelled into a single direction.

    Not literally multiple paths, but in certain ones, Brayflox for example, there is an ideal route through the large areas that will avoid the most mobs and be the quickest. I don't always remember which side of the wall to stay on and it's rare that someone wants to remind me when I ask
