As for the lore argument. Frankly, not everything needs to be tied into the lore. I do like how FFXIV does attempt to tie together plenty of things, but not every single gameplay feature needs to be roped into it. I'm hopeful the talks of relic armour might allow us to boost the stats of existing items. While that wouldn't solve being able to glamour different sets to each job, it would at least remove the cumbersome way we glamour stuff now.

Why not? Most MMOs do. Blade & Soul, you literally just equip what you'd like to wear and bam, that's your "glamour." It's not like glamouring actually costs anything. With the bear minimum of gathering, you can have a retainer get mats and pay 200 gil for clear crystals. That's isn't even chump change levels.
There's literally no reason for it, and while the glamour market isn't as booming as it was with grades, it would still remove a lot of people's income.

Being able to just glamour willy nilly for free is dumb. "Most mmos" use a resource for it. WoW in particular can cost 200+ gold just to change your outfit, we have it good honestly.
