we are essentially playing a prequel of FFXIV in a beta form.

That's sort of the problem.

Realtime Worlds went out of business due to APB and weren't able to redo/fix it. It was picked up by Gamersfirst and redone as a free-to-play model game.

However, we did get one of the best character creation/customization engines out of it.

Ya, APB had an interesting journey jumping ships like that. Sadly tho, a great character creation feature does not a great game make.

Also, I believe SE really had little option with FFXIV in saving face. It's not like they could have just sold the rights to a Final Fantasy title off to another company. Regardless, they play a good hand and I'm an very interested in seeing where this game leads. They have my full attention.

I can't see anything being more epic than a zombie invasion though. The cut-scenes in FFXIV are really lack-luster, there has only been one I've seen that has good animations and voice acting, and that was, I think, the last story-mission until they pushed me over to ul'dah.

I think I saw somewhere in those PDF files that they will be adding voice acting to those now.

You don't pay, you don't play. so, you can't experience nothing. It's a simple concept.Taking WoW as an example, in wotk there was a quest where you must retake the undercity from a betrayal, and as a result the slim non-aggression pact of alliance and horde breaks, leading again to open war. After cataclysm, where said world it's in war, the quest is been removed because obsolete. It's the same thing as here

Only difference FFXIV being a 50% completed game as opposed to WoW which is a 100% finished polished up retail product (not to mention you're talking about an expansion pack). You're completely missing the point that i'm trying to make here. You would pay the exact same amount for half a pie as you would for a whole one? Simple concept right?

Yes, I know the .pdf is full of promises. However, they will not see me within the subscribing ranks unless I see something more substantial in the coming patches before payment hits.

Well there is a great deal of voices in the dats. And I do mean a GREAT DEAL. Now the point of them is beyond me, sense idk if they were there before i listened to them or not.

Also its more then just grunts and what not, full sentences and everything.

I really hope someone has HD recordings of all the current cut scenes in case some don't make it back into the game later =)
