Realtime Worlds went out of business due to APB and weren't able to redo/fix it. It was picked up by Gamersfirst and redone as a free-to-play model game. This is what impresses me most. Most companies would handle this all wrong and cut the game off to redo it (APB anyone?) or scrap it altogether. I applaude SE for using in-game lore to turn this game around and giving us something interesting to experience while we wait for the rebirth of this game. Smoothly done. That is what I call game design... turning a pile of poo into a field of flowers.
However, we did get one of the best character creation/customization engines out of it.
