I see some people complaining about the fees. I hope they realize this next year is a one time deal. We are going to see a brand new game unfold right underneath our own feet. All the event are real time(almost), we are essentially playing a prequel of FFXIV in a beta form. We are really going to give the bards something to sing about.(probably should quote that)So, this is the first time I've seen an mmo do this. . Soo, how I look at it, we are playing a betaish game, that BIG events are going to happen, that we are the only ones EVER going to see it/experience it/feel it. Talk about immersion I say.

You hit the nail on the head but failed to see the wall, people are pissed because we've been playing 14 for a year now and they are planning to start charging, yet the game is as you said beta for 2.0 which seems to be the actual game in it's final release form.
The amount of feedback that we have given to SE while playing their title from an alpha (at release) to beta (as it currently stands). They rushed development and they have been paying the price for rushing the product, but there are still way too many bugs, and lack of way to many common mmo features for SE to truly justify the subscription fees. 2.0 is the game, too many changes between now and then for it to be any other way.
If you think world population is low now, just wait till fees start.

I think its funny that ppl will complain about paying for the game incomplete or not. Seriously are mmos ever really complete? Devs have to constantly add things or the game dies so the argument for paying now versus later is kinda silly at best. To those who act as if 15 bucks is 1million bucks and that they would be wasting money by paying now is just crazy to me. If they were willing to really share how much money they waste already on movies and subs like netflix and other things like cable tv and you dont complain about tv being incomplete. My advise is hey pay if you want dont pay if you dont want, watch youtube when things unfold but how will one anticipate said events unless they already constantly record their gameplay. No one is forcing you to pay however, the freebee time is coming to an end and now its time for the true fans to pony up. Ever go to a preseason baseball basketball or football game? Its not the season the games dont count but if you are a fan you go because you enjoy the experience right? Same goes for this game and Ive said it before and I will again. SE take my money and keep up the magnificent work!!!!

The way I see it is, we are the battle of jeuno, FFXI in its current state is FFXIV 2.0 aka after the battle of jeuno.. (:O which is bad ass because battle of jeuno was epic...) Great come back, I fully support this game, and sorry for the FFXI reference

Except for its not a beta....its literally a different game with the chance to keep your character advancement. The plot/story/world/events of FFXIV: The Prologue will never be playable by FFXIV 2.0 players. I'll be bringing my Moogle lance to the party when FFXIV 2.0 rolls around.

@Manafont Gratz on being illiterate. On a side note. I'm going to pay because I want to be apart of this amazingness. I want to see the world fold around me, towns exploding, aetherites floating away, ground shooting up. I want to be apart of it. Not to be an elitist, I do want to say I have done it, but not to be better, but to feel like an elder. I want to tell people of my experiences(Hence why I said "give the bards to sing about") Its all about the immersion man!~

If its not done to your satisfaction and you don't want to pay through the next year to 2.0, then don't. I don't see the big problem here. You will miss stuff, but if you don't think what you will miss is worth the price of admission than don't pay it. They will be relaunching the game in full in a year, with another free month to boot, come back and see if it is worth your cash then. Or you can piss and moan about how you are entitled to play the game free indefinitely because you complained on the forums about something they ended up fixing. I'm sure your input was invaluable.
