Sorry this thread got completely off topic but no i am not accusing Ava of hacking at all. The point was that just because players on Aether have higher win rates than other DC's, it doesn't really mean anything since clearly they're inflated. Not sure why they're inflated, but they are.

Ah, sorry. I misinterpreted it as accusing them of something.

I dunno, most healers on the data center have like a ~50% win rate. How do win rates get inflated anyway? It's just a case of winning more than you lose so..

That's the question of the day.

Good healer vs dog **** healer that manages to somehow get gold despite 40% winrate, repeatedly.

Well, the only way for winrates to become inflated is to be matched against the exact same people over and over. Which can happen, frequently, during off hours and it makes the rating less comparable to someone who fought more different enemies/during prime time.

The best example of that would be party queue - if you "only" had a team of bad players and a team of moderate players playing for most of the day, the team of moderate players would have a highly inflated winrate from farming the worse team. And even though a top team that could easily beat the moderate players might enter late at night after clearing Savage, they don't find any enemies, let alone the moderate team to reduce their winrate.

If inflation happens, it's a side effect of low available matches. Conversely, rating deflation can also happen for the same reasons.

I can kind of understand it being a little loose to try and ease queue times, but I think it should be much firmer for qualifiers. Was on a good streak today then got paired with 3 unranked in one match and a first time healer in qualifiers. It's unacceptable. I'd rather wait 30 minutes for a fair shot at a qualifier than just be thrown in with whatever.

It could be based off of the talent pool and size of the pool in general.

Aether most likely has a larger pvp community than primal does and the range of experience between top players, mid-core and new players is vast. So thus the inflation of the percentages based on the size of the pool would matter here.

Primal has a smaller, more focused community so we challenge a lot of the same people who are seasoned so it affects our rating that way, based off of talent pool.

I'm not saying that one DC is better than the other but this is how I view the percentile differences between the two NA DCs.

I regret starting ranked so late in the season. These 50 min queues are killing me . I'll never get past bronze at this rate

On the flip side this is a terrific time to start up if you are a competent (not even great just competent is enough) healer starting up the season as you will be matched against brand new heals almost every match who have no idea what they are doing giving you easy victories and a pretty win ratio.

There's still over 2 months left in the season though I hardly think the ranks are as impossible to climb as people have been making it sound in some of the threads past few days. Not everyone was able to no life the season as soon as it started considering we are heading into the hardest part of the fall semester for some of us and we just do not have the time to play now like how we will a month from now when the semesters are ending. Even though I've only played all of 9 games this season I still expect to be able to rank 2 months from now. I guess time will tell.

This is exactly why it's bad for pretty much everyone else lol.

Honestly, starting late this season has been so bad that I've been tempted to take up healing myself, just so I won't get the shaft with a rookie healer. The only reason I haven't is because I don't think that D-pad targeting will be fast enough for me to keep up with the pace of Feast ... and I'd have to re-gear my healer, which I'm just too lazy to do.

The real problem that I can foresee, however, is that the matchmaking is still putting up brick walls for rank divisions. I got a silver player last night who I know for a fact lost their gold-qualifiers because they got the same scrub healer 3 matches straight. After suffering the same fate multiple times last season, I felt pretty bad for them. I'm not opposed to these types of matchmaking changes, but I still firmly believe that new or rookie players should be excluded from qualifiers (NO unranked players in silver qualifier matches). At the very least, they shouldn't count as guaranteed negative points.
