Almost correct. He said tells could have been made to work that way, but he chose for them not to be, to prevent players from conspiring against other players in the duty. (But there's no way around this, if they are in the same LS/FC though.)

No. They don't allow tells in dungeons because they're afraid of harassment. They told us that outright in one of the first live letters. This has been asked for, for a very long time. Yoshi has said it is physically impossible to do these things due to the nature of how duty finder works. When you que, and get into a duty, it moves your character to a different server, and this is what makes receiving tells not work.
Q20: Will we ever be able to send tells from within an instanced area?
A20: While the feature can be implemented, it's currently masked. It's currently masked because we would like to prevent players from harassing each other just because they know they would never party together in the future. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully as we move forward.

You're right in that it's just turned off, but it's off because of players harassing players. People still pay more attention to LS/FC chat than the duty half the time anyway. I feel that's a poor reason to keep it off.You can already chat in linkshells and FC chat whilst in dungeons. Allowing people to send/receive tells would make zero difference. The only reason it was ever disabled in the first place was to stop people getting pestered with goldspam whilst in content that requires paying attention. We already know it's just a toggle that they can enable if they want to because GMs can send tells to you whilst in a dungeon.

Kind of off-topic, but isn't there talk of cross-server PFs being possible in the future? I thought I read somewhere that that was being considered. I'd really like something like cross-server linkshells. I've met a lot of cool people not from my server, and it's kind of sad I probably won't ever see them again.
On-topic: it would be nice if you could look at your friend's list/FC profile/LS to see who is online. Would maybe help with trying to fill slots if someone drops the party for some reason. I know you can just type in FC/LS "Can someone queue up as [insert role here] for [duty]? Ours just dropped." But sometimes if I type in an LS or FC chat "Can someone help?" and then find out later no one was even online, I feel kind of silly lol.
A suggestion for if they did open up the tells option in dungeon, would be maybe to only allow the sending/receiving of tells from people on your friends list while in a duty? That would prevent the /tell harassment they're worried about. And if the friends list was available for view, it would help when trying to fill a slot. Since not all of my friends are in my FC/LS.
With regards to mounts, eh. I don't really see the use for them. I wouldn't mind if we could do content as a duo with our chocobos though. Would be something I'd like to try. But they probably won't incorporate that because, if people can duo content with their chocobo, why would they bother with DF to do content with randoms? Unless they didn't allow EXP gain while with your choco, which would render the concept pretty useless, in my opinion.

Mounts in the towers hell yer

while i do disagree with mounts in a dungeon (i dont see how a mount would be beneficial...they're not huge dungeons) I do very much want the ability to do /tells but i know they cant...its just impossible with the server set up

I am actually glad that there are no tells in dungeons. I hated doing dungeons and raids in WoW only for whispers to suddenly start exploding on my screen because something happened in Guild chat or the others in the group really dislike one person from another server and stuff like that. It was annoying and caused me to just hide whispers, which then resulted in me ignoring whispers for like a week because I had forgotten that I had done that. 90% of the time there is nothing so important in a video game that someone cannot wait for you to be out of the dungeon. As for the mounts in the dungeon... well if we had bigger maps maybe, but with how small it is sprint easily gets you to the point you need pretty quickly. I would though love to be able to pull up my fc window so I can see if any tanks/healers are on if someone drops instead of shooting the question off into FC space not knowing if it will be answered or not.
while i disagree with mounts in a dungeon and tells ( who wants to keep stopping and starting all the time because someone NEEDS to answer their friend immediately) there's already enough of that with fc/ls chat.
i do agree that being able to open the fc window would be highly beneficial... to look for players when someone drops out mid dungeon...to access fc buffs if they were forgotten about etc etc

All I want them to do is give me a Jumbo Cactuar primal fight.
