If you see a woman glued to a unicorn and its how she is seated that damages your suspension of reality, and not the unicorn.... I'm afraid we are to far apart to see eye to eye. This confuses my unendingly as, if the devs did their research, they'd know it's basically impossible to ride a galloping horse side-siddle while bare-back. You'd bounce right off as you need to hold on with your legs, even in a saddle. It's also terrible for your back, and nigh impossible to control your horse in that position since, again, you need your legs to help steer them.
Side saddle only existed to aid a women in her modesty, and their horses were usually lead by another or from someone on the ground, walking.
It just looks ridiculous being glued to a fast moving horse like that.

I am neither for nor against this. o/ There aren't really any weapon drawn poses I really like except for female NIN and MNK, but more options can't hurt. At the same time, I like it the way it is now.
I was just thinking about this last night ^w^ It'd be awesome!

Working with limitations adds variety. Giving everyone access to the same poses effectively cuts the uniqueness by half, not multiplies it as you seem to suggest.Giving people more options adds more variety, not less. Seeing every female with the same pose 1 and every male with the same pose 2 isn't much in the way of variety. Making it so some females use pose 1 and others use pose 2 because they've been given a choice, while some males use pose 1 and others pose 2 for the same reason, is at least a bit more variety than what we have now.
This is the same reason I'm always pushing for more gender locked gear and more racial locked gear, not less.

LOL. It's only becuase I've taken lessons and ridden horses before that it bothers me so badly. I would never attempt to go for even a short side-saddle since I like my spine.
When I was Elezen, I never used my Unicorn for this reason. It looked painful and silly! Let me /cpose to a more comfortable position! Please!

I don't mind this but by looking the new Highlander pose since Hildibrand's issues, it might took so many patch to work for just 1 new pose.
You wouldn't need an /acpose, just /cpose # where # is a number or word corresponding to your preferred pose. Then the same could work for sitting.
Come to think of it, you could also have /sit # and go directly into your preferred sitting animation.
While we're on the subject, I wouldn't mind a "personality" option that changes the default idle pose for standing and sitting. (I hate my Mi'quote squat.) Maybe expand the pool for other emotes, either add some or share them between races and let you access them via personality option and /emote #.

I would argue working with limitations creates the illusion of variety. Every female has the same pose. Every male has the same pose. The only variety is the variety between male and female, it's boolean Male = True, pose 1. How is that variety?Working with limitations adds variety. Giving everyone access to the same poses effectively cuts the uniqueness by half, not multiplies it as you seem to suggest.
This is the same reason I'm always pushing for more gender locked gear and more racial locked gear, not less.
