They spent over half the trailer on her b/c she's the central NPC character for the expansion. The Amano artwork features her. Even the logo features her front and center. It's been rumored that it's either Yda or her sister. I'd be betting it's her sister though. As to her being a dancer, no just no. Dancers don't have flaming stance modes which clearly she was using in the trailer and that stance is a martial arts stance the chinese use in kun fu and such. They already confirmed that Monk will be the main job for the new expansion. There's no reason they'd reveal a new job in that first trailer of the expansion. She's a monk plain and simple. The only glimmer of hope that I would give the theory that she's a Dancer is that her right hand has a small gauntlet housing a dagger that comes out. You can see it in the Amano artwork and in the logo. But by all means the trailer was showing two monks sparring. The derplander as a monk, and whoever the new girl is. Also Dancers are a healer support dps job, they don't go super saiyan and use shoulder tackle which is clearly what they were using in the trailer.

I'm fully behind the idea of what we've seen was a Dancer. Not a monk nor a samurai.

I wonder what will it be its relic or anima? Her gear thingy?

Going to echo this here - I'm willing to bet that this NPC is related to Yda in some way, a sibling wouldn't be too far of a stretch.

What people are quick to not pay attention to is the lore of Ala Mihgo centres mainly around the Fist of Rhalgr - the order of Monks that were wiped out by the last King of Ala Mihgo (Theodoric) before the Garleans took it over. I'd say that she's likely a surviving member of the Order, if not a member of the royal family, anyway.

Eh I dunno why it couldn't be a dancer. The Corpse Brigade in Southern Thanalan are old members of the Ala Mhigan army and the enemies from there are Firedancers and Fistdancers. I forget the name for the sword bearers that show up in the one FATE in the zone, but again flagged as a somethingdancer. It's not that outlandish a notion that dancer is coming, since clearly it's tied to Ala Mhigo already.

The lady in the trailer is most definitely not Yda. Yda has a neck tattoo. This woman doesn't.

Don't have to be Yda to be a Monk, because Yda is just a Pugilist. Scion members don't have jobs, only classes. Even Thranced, after giving up his Gladiator class, is still just a Rogue now and not a Ninja.

Raubahn Aldynn, the Dancer. In their epic showdown, Raubahn and Ilberd are going to have a dance-off. The dance-off will take place at the edge of Rhalgr's Reach, where the process will occur in three phases:

Phase 1: They expose their bare-chested muscles for the world to see, beginning their dance-off with oily muscle twitches...
Phase 2: They do the pelvic thrust that really drives us insane...
Phase 3: The dance-off reaches its climax, when both big, sweaty men start working that good ol' jazz ballet, spraying onlookers with droplets of sweat as they sway, swing, and leap, skip, jump this way and that...

And that, my friends, is why the Dancer is confirmed.

I'd like to point out that it's not uncommon for Dancers to use hand to hand. In FFXI, while daggers were their best weapon, dancers were able to use hand to hand and knuckle weapons. Even the Dancers in campaign used Hand to Hand and not dagger. So the argument that people are saying that because the red woman in the trailer because she uses fists so therefore mnk is not proof enough. We don't know what weapon Dancers will have, we might have the first job that repeats weapons (if we keep adding jobs it will be inevitable). The lady in red is clearly different and not your typical hand to hand fighter. I really do believe it is dancer and that it's martial arts based it's not far out of the realm of possibilities.

Honestly, up to this point they have not showcased any of the new jobs in any cinematic. This would be the first.

This is bugging me. Up until now, we've had exactly two cinematic teasers: one for Heavensward, and one for Stormblood. Claiming that the very first has set some sort of recurring theme that all those thereafter must follow just seems to be reaching for straws. "They didn't do this the first time; they can't possibly have done this the second time." Please.

Unless you don't mean only the expansion teasers. In which case, the Heavensward launch trailer shows the new jobs. They just didn't show it to us until they'd already told us about them.

Or do you mean the ARR trailer? That one showed every single one of the -zero- new jobs we got.

And before then... well, I'm having trouble finding anything from 1.x apart from the opening cinematic. I can recall there being a archer, conjuror, gladiator and marauder fighting the marlboro -- all brand new classes at the time. Jobs were apparently introduced around patch 1.2, but if there's a cinematic teaser or trailer for that patch, I can't find it.

If any of you actually watched the trailer closely, you could easily draw the conclusion. If you watch the trailer again at 0.25x speed when they start fighting, a long red sleeve comes out her gauntlet as she swipes down on him. Also you'll notice a "Golden" line as well which would be the hidden blade. In FF Tactics Dancers used "Cloth" as a weapon or dagger in other instances, this incorporates both. Some people say "Oh but she's using Monk moves", Dancer is a subclass from Monk, duh. Others speculate "Red Mage" being released because Yoshida said something about Scarlet Witch. Obviously it's not a coincidence that the chakra of said dancer is "Red". Yoshida could be playing mind games.

If Yoshi's shirt was talking about dancer and not red mage there would be soooo many pissed people but also would be really funny. lol I like that idea just for that! lol

I rather think Dancer would be appropriate for the expansion. I also like to think the woman in the picture is a Dancer. Doesn't mean either of those things will be true, but those are my personal perspectives. I think the woman showed off a good AF gear look for a Dancer. I also feel like Dancer -should- be similar to monk aesthetically in many ways, and that the trailer made the similarities good enough. What'll really separate the two is gameplay, and that's what I'm interested in learning about, should Dancer be one of the new jobs.
