Can you or any expert ninja tell me the reason why ninjas need 20+ seconds before the pull?
It's already been said. Huton, 20 seconds for cooldown to be up, can Suiton immediately at the pull.

About the only time something like this seriously matters is for high tier raiding, though.

I don't really understand it. Better use that 20 seconds to tell those ninjas about Kassatsu.

The whole point is to not waste anything, especially not Kassatsu..*sigh*
With the 20 seconds, you have the maximum time on Huton AND every single skill and ability ready for use, so you can Suiton right away AND use a DMG ninjutsu.
It pains me that your profile says NIN is your main class and you are not aware of this :x

A good ninja will be using an opener that goes something like this: Huton > 20 sec > Suiton > Spinning Edge > Kassatsu > Internal Release > Blood 4 Blood > Dancing Edge (if Storm's Eye is up, Aeolian Edge) > Jugulate > Spinning Edge > Trick Attack > Shadow Fang > Raiton...

The TLDR of that is that after the 20 seconds, Suiton can be precasted while the NIN sets up buffs on themselves and debuffs on the enemy, Kassatsu can be prepped for a crit Raiton under Trick Attack's debuff.

Please notice how this allows for: 1) No loss of 20 seconds before ninjutsu can happen because Huton needed to be applied, or alternatively 2) no loss of deeps for using Armor Crush to refresh Huton instead of applying Dancing Edge.

Most importantly, if you are wasting Kassatsu to be able to apply Suiton, you are missing out on a lot of dps. I would recommend Shasta's NIN guide if you are interested in improving.

All that said: I stopped ready checking in ER, especially if I am running with jobs that have stacks that they don't want to lose. I cross the boss line, check if my party is in tow and pull. However, if you are running any content where DPS will make or break your chances of success, /readycheck + /cd 25 (when ready) will be best to do.

I know that.... But in casual dungeons and raids, they can have Huton prepared before entering the boss room. Either with Armor Crush on the last trash mob, or casting Huton while running to the boss room. So the first Huton casting and that 20 seconds are not needed to begin with.

With ER and other casual/4-man content, yes. When I run as NIN in such content I just try to guess when 20 seconds before the pull will be so I can still try to practice my opener and do my best. Usually that means using Huton while traveling to the boss.

But! It is important as a Tank to know that there absolutely are times when /readycheck and a countdown will allow their party to perform to their fullest. Your OP is framed as "Don't readycheck at a boss" which does not have a caveat of "when doing 4-man roulettes/faceroll content". Making tanks think that readychecks are annoying as a blanket statement could lead to more pulls in 24 mans before the alliances are ready as well as the un-optimized DPS output in trials and raids where damage output can make or break the attempt.

I wouldn't worry about it. I guarantee none of us tanks are taking this thread seriously.

Because that Kassatsu is better used after TA has already been applied. That guaranteed crit is guaranteed to crit harder while the Vulnerability debuff is up.
