It's not up to you to decide whether or not I'm allowed to get offended by homophobia. Thanks.

Not sure why you're quoting me. Did you miss the bolded too part? O.o
I never said there's anything wrong with wanting feminine or masculine things. I also never said anything about sexism or the like. To want more or less of something is perfectly OK. I was talking about the game itself being too feminine or too masculine, and I don't think a game can be either. It can however be too feminine or too masculine for a person's own taste. Do you get what I'm saying? It's all about phrasing.
Obviously it's perfectly fine to wish for more masculine (or feminine) gear. I hope I made myself clear.
edit: Gotta add that although some gear is very feminine or androgynous looking the game itself is way too straight for my taste. :P
(I have a LGBT Free company on Phoenix, called Rainbow Void, if anyone wants to join <-- shameless advertising. Sorry not sorry.)

You're reading far too deeply into things. I'm inclined to agree with the idea that you should take a step back, take a deep breath and cool off before replying further. It may be a bit of shock but the same 'diversity' you seek to celebrate also means that members of the LGBT 'community' don't act or think as a hive mind.
He is not so much talking, as complaining. And by doing so he is basically saying that gay men with those personality traits are a joke.I feel he's talking about how shows often portray homosexual characters as extremely effeminate and/or extremely masculine (often in leather and/or bear flavour and sometime's very 'assertive'). There was rarely a character who made you go "oh, he was gay?" like in ParaNorman.
This kinda goes to what I just said about in-game gear styles. You can ask for more of something to fit you, without shitting all over the other things.
Think of it like this tho. Say in movies where there is no romance in the story line. Be it action/comedy/thriller/horror I think it's safe to say that the leading characters would be assumed to be straight. Even with no reference to their sexual orientation.
Like how you referenced ParaNorman. What's his name (the older brother) was that stereotypical dumb, muscle jock. People were surprised to find out at the end that he was gay, because even tho nothing was referenced about his sexual orientation in the movie, up to that point it was assumed he was straight.
Okay. Sorry I wasn't aware liking different things made someone homophobic, but I guess you learn something new every day.
Eh... I wasn't going to say anything, but the one who's being overly defensive is you - at least in terms of tone. But I understand you're very offended so I suppose that's to be expected. Also, who is this "us?" Are you The Spokesman for Homosexual Men? I don't remember voting for you.And it does have bearing on the topic at hand, because to identify a piece of gear as manly/masculine, you have to define manly/masculine, which for you apparently doesn't include men you find to be too flamboyantly gay. Again, you fired the first shots, don't get so defensive. Just say it, you don't like us.
I honestly thought, considering my experience talking to people in game, that the FFXIV community was a bit better than this. That is my own fault for being naive I suppose.
I do not think that we should act as a hive mind, but we should be more considerate of the words we use and how they might affect different people. And like I said to fantasticm it is a sore spot, and it's very disheartening to hear the same bullshit language about "masculinity" come from other LGBT folks considering how it's used as a weapon by straight people who hate us. If you assert X is manly and Y is not, what are you implicitly saying about the men who enjoy Y? Just think about that.

I'm confused. What, exactly, do you find so unreasonable about my posts? I'm genuinely curious - especially since I'm not the one shouting and swearing. I've stated numerous times that it's perfectly fine to agree to disagree - though also that this isn't the right place to get overly political. Do you believe that that in itself is inappropriate and that your own political views should trump everybody else's?
It genuinely seems like you're looking for fresh targets to argue with and get offended by now that it has become obvious that the OP isn't going to show up and elaborate as to his own points. You're literally putting words into my mouth and ranting about issues that are largely unrelated to what I even stated in my previous posts.
No, I'm not a spokesman for anyone. By "us" I meant those of us who do fit the stereotype of the flamboyant gay man. I'm not indicating that I speak for the group, only that I belong to it.
