"Certain style" being male clothing, in this instance? Like idk but throughout my playthrough so far, there are so many options for male wear that actually looks masculine that I don't even understand why the complaint was brought up.

If you are talking about more effeminate armor, then maybe yeah that's legit, even though that entire direction kind of runs the risk of being abused to lines of 'bikini armor' that's so disgustingly common in games, though that's me being pessimistic and I think the dev team has proven they have somewhat of an open mind about stuff like this.

Looks masculine to you, mayhaps. Few men I know fancy thigh high boots or skirts no matter what classification you give them. Effeminate would be the better term though, but it's fairly obvious the OP and most in this thread meant precisely that. At this point you're just arguing semantics.

Right. And how many women like chainmail bikinis? It's essentially the same complaint, albeit in reverse. FFXIV is certainly better about armour diversity, but I do feel it lacks more traditionally "male" attire. At least by North American and EU standards. A friend and I even joked at all the options I had to dress up my hyur while her male Au Ra didn't have nearly the same amount. I mean, look at the WHM esoteric gear, for example.

I didn't. I cited yours as "tumblr rhetoric" because you specifically mentioned "cis white males" and implied bigotry-- neither of which contributed anything to the actual discuss. Both only served to insult people for not sharing your beliefs, which is what Tumblr likes to do. Simply put, a games' forum isn't really the place for "systematic social issues."

You literally just said that cisgender is the biological default, when it actually varies between different people. The article I just linked you is there to prove just that. Either you seem to be confused as to the differences between gender identity and biological sex (the former is the category cisgender belongs to) or I really don't know what.

This is how I roll. If the character is male, I'mma call you a "he" unless you tell me not too. If you are a female character I will call you a female unless you tell me not to.

Please don't. Being misgendered is one of the most common annoyances a transgender individual has to face. Nothing is wrong with ditching the pronouns and using "they" or "they're" for people you are unsure about. Show some respect.

It's because it's a game! I don't know what someone is. I can only go by what I see. If someone is transgender to female and play a male character and would like to be referred to as a female, they're just female. I'm not going to ask a person what their gender is. They can say something if they are comfortable.

Towards the first two points, fair enough. I more than likely have very differing opinions on what some people consider masculine and what others don't.

Towards your last point, I don't know where you are getting that I'm allegedly insulting other people's beliefs or how referring to anyone as cisgendered is offensive, given that it shares none of the same contexts of other labels used to describe groups that are marginalized by comparison.

Also, sure. I guess I can't assume that everyone is willing to or prepared to have these complex discussions, but I'll leave you with this: systematic social issues apply to just about everything, and nothing we, as a species, say or do is devoid of politics to some degree. Your entire post, for instance, sends a political message about what is preferred among men and it's wholly possible to parse what political stance you take from that post.

could tell your nephew that this is a game and he is free to play it as a girl ? eh?...or, better, glamour a gear or if he doesnt like a particular thing, ore ven better to not do that particular thing. That excuse for not playing the game is not really showing a manliness that your nephew seems so prone to diffend to an extend to even feel insulted for pixel gears that can easely get fixed by himself.Being a man is not through gears is in actions you know, might want to tell him that too, of course no offence meant of course not. Oh, puh-lease. This game already caters to straight male players more than anything. That's just a knee-jerk reaction to the notion that other player bases with their own wants even exist.

Can you explain why you believe this game caters to straight male players more than anything? I'm thinking your reason for saying this is because of how revealing some of the female clothing is in the game. But, there are actually quite a few (if not equal) number of revealing clothes for male characters.
