I think that 4.0 will involve the Warrior of Light waking up to discover that it's all been a dream and that s/he is not actually a god-slaying champion of a magical realm under siege but a claims adjuster from Cleveland.

I think that 4.0 will involve the Warrior of Light waking up to discover that it's all been a dream and that s/he is not actually a god-slaying champion of a magical realm under siege but a claims adjuster from Cleveland.
I hope the liberation of Ala Mhigo ends up being a robust raid.
Also hope GC platoons are required for open world content in 4.0. Finally make the world more dangerous to travel.

I wonder if we'll actually have a new race?
Yugiri was1st introduced in 2.1 and was made clear that she's a preview of the new playable race (too be her face reveal was lacklustre) 3.4 is a few weeks away and nothing has been shown indicating that there's a new race ... unless that mask man will be one?
Of course, they could decide to do things very differently from how they revealed Yugiri and the Au Ra

We will be heading to Ala Mhigo
Possible Jobs
New Dungeons
- Samurai: The Art will be imported from Doma like Ninja, however it will take a longer time in comparison because the shogunate clans would had been either decimated by the sacking of Doma, or too Honor-bound to immediately leave
- Red Mage: A Rapier using Job that serves as Ala Mhigo's Chirugeons, front-line fighters or a source of artillery (via magic), althought in fitting with he warlike culture the Job will be a DPS.
- A new concept that will be based around a Blunt Weapon and serve the OT role as well as WAR (assuming SAM is a DPS).
- Dancer: a Support-type healer that learns dances form over the realm and adapts them to combat but using damaging or beneficial attacks. Their Weapons will be Fans
- Blue Mage: a Mage with the ability to learn spells form monsters. Preety much the same in lore, but the mechanics will be very asimilar
- (There will be 3 Jobs at most)
New Plotlines
- HM versions of HW's endgame dungeons
- The more secluded parts of Ala Mhigo, including Castrums.
- Paga'than, O'Ghormoro and a previously inaccessible part of the Sylphlands/a Sylph-invaded area of the West Shroud.
Misc
- MSQ will focus on the Warriors of Darkness, and Garlemald finally acting upon the knowledge that all or Eorzea's inhabitants are capable of summoning Primals.
- One of the raids will branch off the latter part. Where a Legatus (say of the XIIIth legion) enacts a plan to efficiently kill off or control the entire population of Eorzea. Taking place in a set of Castrums, with references to XIII (Bar the items included in the Lightning Returns promotional events).
- The other raid will be another Primal themed raid. This time based on one of Japan's gods. This will be the primal that Revealed their existence to Garlemald, who brought them to Eorzea via a certain train for the purpose of studying them. Of course the captives summoned the god again and tempered the researchers.
- Sidequests will focus on life in a changing country. One that was brought to heel by an invading power, how they assimilated to their dominators' culture and effectively become an extension of Garlemald in a cultural sense, with little of the culture of old Ala Mhigo (Fist of Rhalgr, monarchy, etc) remaining. And the effect our actions will have on them
- MNK questline will likewise cause some changes. Wieargelt, his two apprentices and Erik will be relevant due to both the attempts at rebuilding the Fists of Rhalgr and their ties to the resistance (and the hidden heir). The Charkra duality will also serve as a motif that backlights Ala Mhigo and the story.
- DRG question will focus more on collaborating with Dragons now, as well as finding an antidote for the effect of Ratatoskr's blood on the Ishgardians (mainly the Dragon transformations). Fir the sake of not needing Heavensward (assumong they don't roll it into the base game) the quest will start in Central Highlands and the HW zones will be accesses in solo instances
- SMN questline will reference the Egi glamours and integrate it into the Lore. But will focus more on the DoT spells. SCH will likewise focus on more mitigation spells and finding a cure for the Tonberry curse
- Starting iLevel for the first Leveling dungeon will be i230 and the entry level iLevel will be around i290. From there for even more grind, the starting Tome gear be at i320 and will be upgraded to i330
- New "Relic" quest will include weapons for the 2.0 jobs, but may or may not include those for the HW jobs. Likewise, the 4.0 Jobs will not receive Zodiac and Anima weapons

I would love that, but alas we will need a new main city state probably so it is likely Ala Mhigo will be acessible from the very beginning. Granted you CAN be in incognito for the entire main scenario and do a raid to liberate the city.
Tue, nobody said we will get a new race. Yugiri came with 2.2 though. 2.1 was Ramuh and the syphs.
If the new race is indeed Viera I can totally understand why we don't have a Viera NPC. Every self respecting Final Fantasy fan would recognize it.
Wow. An actual expansion concept. And a pretty good one two. Glad I'm not the only one who wants dancers to fight with fans.
A primal based on japanese gods? Hmm, well Amaterasu IS a summon.

I'll put my bet too:
1. Ala Mihgo area, surrounded by Gyn Abania. Also, a big sea/ocean area at the south of Gyn Abania, the sea of Jade, where are a lot of isles, maybe Thavnairian is from here. Main scenario concerning the battle of Ala Mihgo to free the city from empire control. Maybe we can fight more Legatus. But the MSQ don't stop here, we will maybe wake up a powerful and epic enemy who atemp to destroy both the empire and Eorzea. Maybe we can see at last the Twelve in his human form if that exist.
2. Two or three new jobs. Samurai as the tank class, Red Mage as de DPS and a Dancer for healer. And level cap increased to 70.
3. Swim? Of course, the Sea of Jace is full of things to discover!
4. Race? Not really, I hope more for a enhancement of the current races, with more customization.
5. New Raid: Eden. A giant flying fortress based on magic (instead of mechanic like Alexander) who come from the moon (or under the sea).
6. New 24 man Raid: The Ocean Depths. Something is hidding there. In an old sunken city.
7. Two new base game primals (not couting post patches): Asura and Hades (or a new one, like Ravana) or maybe some form Ivalice like Zalera.
Let's see how many I guess.

To flesh out the Anima raid concept for fun.
You've driven the Garleans from Ala Mhigo, everyone is celebrating, etc. as you're leaving the celebrations you're contacted by a few Garlean agents who want you to investigate a research site that went dark as they were beaten back.
As you work your way through it becomes obvious that the guy in charge in his effort to find a way to forever banish or control Primals lost his mind, he started experimenting with the anima and souls of the various inmates the Empire held there and has created a pseudo-primal abomination that he controls with machina fueled by the void.
Anima: The labs.
You fight your way through voidsent infested laboratories towards the main tower, Labs4 is a Seymour homage who wants you to stay away from his research and turn back.
Anima: The tower.
You ignore him and enter the facilities main tower, it's a panopticon style design that you fight your way up. As you go up you can make out Anima chained up in the centre reaching up the height of the tower. The final fight is in a room at the top looking down over the facility against a void touched and crazy Seymour homage, as you fight you can see Anima beneath you as she gradually wakes up. The enrage wipe for the fight is Anima casting pain into the room you're all in.
After the fight the cutscene is you releasing the controls on the gathered Anima which should cause her to disappear, but the chains keep her together and contained.
Anima: The void.
You descend to the bottom of the tower, fighting through a dark mirror image of it, the walls are falling away revealing an upside down version of the world outside. The facility from 'The labs' is visible as a dark mirrored version in the sky and what would normally be the floor is just endless void. In the centre is Anima's oblivion form chained up.
Fight 11 is against Seymour homages final form, when you win you use the controls the release the chains. In an awesome cutscene Anima starts to dissipate but so does the void mirror of the tower. When you escape to the surface an awesome CGI cutscene plays in which void-seymour-homage appears and re-summons Anima. The chain from FFX smashes through the facility and drags Anima out of the void ready for fight 12, no idea what the mechanics for the fight would be but the typical 'primal wipes you unless you do this thing' mechanic involves Anima flipping the world upside and doing the Oblivion overdrive with the rest of the fight taking place in the void.
I think it could work for FFXIV, considering by this point we can be pretty certain the Empire knows that Eorzeans can not only summon but become Primals. I could see a storyline in which a crazed Garlean researcher decides to create an artificial primal with which to wipe out the Eorzeans forever ending the Primal threat. Seymour-homage believes that Primal summoning is eternal and comes to see death as a release from the endless cycle of strife that it brings.
E: I don't really have much idea for the final fights mechanics, but I'm imaging a lot airships lined up against Anima (possibly brought in by Cid and your new Garlean friends) with the party swapping over them and sliding down grappling hooks onto her arms to attack and stuff.

I still think Li-grim from Tactics Advance would make for a great primal, although I'm hoping our next female primal is more on the beastly side verses another monster-girl.
Although, it could perhaps be that Li-grim came into existence by accident by the Scion's joint desire to remove Minfillia from Hydaelyn. It happened when Gilgamesh was missimg Enkidoh with a few crates a fire crystals. If the subject of Minfillia's plight came up with enough aether infused crystals nearby....

Seriously though, Sam and Rdm have all but been confirmed, sam as a tank and rdm....hopefully as a battle mage cause if they make it a healer they have no idea what a rdm is, ditto if they bring us blu. Pup and dnc would be amazing but I cannot really foresee them soon even with all the mammets in side stories and the gsm quests. Still, I have been waiting on dnc since the Ul'dah opening of version 1.
Hopefully there are no oversexed bunnies, I would much rather see an expansion of our current character creation, as it is now is nearly one of the most limited in gaming.
Last years rising event mentioned sea and underground, both of which are viable. Underwater battle was one of the things that was promised to be released by 2.2 but never came to fruition and is on the long list of things promised but never mentioned by the devs again.
