What's the bet this guy is a mentor too.Wait, what? You don't mind a new player with no clue about the dungeon or boss mechanics, but trying to ascertain the knowledge from the actual group you're playing with, and not some visual guide posted three years ago is unacceptable? WTF?
Why on Earth does it have to be about being a tour guide? What happened to just being helpful and courteous to your fellow players?
Mentors are not expected to explain dungeon mechanics, this choice all players have, many do while many do not. Some are suited for it while many are not.
People forget far to easily they where new players maybe not in this game but new all the same, for me this was Wow, man I was such a newbie back then, but in a good way
Did I go into Dead mines in TOB yes, didIi look up a guide No, to be honest I did not even know they existed back then
was I geared yes and prepared Yes. Even as a newbie you where expected to make some kind of effort.
As for the above snip you used they should have been more specific their is a difference between a new person struggling and a person who use the excuse of wanting to do things 100%. the latter has no right to ask for boss mechanics because its counter intuitive to their play-style.
If they think otherwise there as good as they think they are and are not the kind of player they think they are.
Yes I can say this, because I have done this. I did not ask how do we do this because no one knew back when new dungeons came out and new raid floors.

So... basically this text box that pops up when you enable mentor status is lying. Maybe the GM's have to start removing people's mentor status before they actually care.Mentors are not expected to explain dungeon mechanics, this choice all players have, many do many do not. *I'm not a mentor, this image was given to me by one.

Game-play information is broad term
Do I try to help and explain Yes but I do not look down on people who choose not to
Gameplay information can be interpreted differently by each individual but unless it specifaclly states what it covers its a loose term basically. Mentors can turn off their crowns does that mean I should no longer help a new player? Nope this is something I was happy to do before.
Expected, regard (something) as likely to happen. This why many mentors do not care and will not help its not mandatory and these people never helped players in the first place.
As for the pic yes any mentor knows the specifications it appears anytime we switch to it back on from being in online status, or change the mentor type
I explain mechanics in a list format, in order of appearance usually, but sadly not all people like to wait DD or tanks have pulled while i'm doing this, this really did piss me off while leveling SCH![]()

It gives some gear, but if you are relying solely on the MSQ for gear much of it will be 5-10 levels behind most of the time - and none of it will be HQ gear. This for the earlier parts of the game, once you enter Ishgard the MSQ rewards will be better.
LOL I've been raiding for years and I dont follow other raiders who watch videos to learn the content and I am sure many other players who are raiders do not either.
Were numbers invented or discovered? How many Moogles does it take to make Kuponut rum? Answer: zero... They will give you a quest to make it.

Think of the horrors of jump potions if we ever get those

You don't need to follow other raiders who watch videos to know this. If you have been raiding for years then you should know in almost any MMO with a raid scene in it when you are in progression of a new raid tier there is a unwritten rule where you can't put videos out for awhile until a few people start clearing it to let people figure it out.

I was against this at first but if they put it as a reward for completing Palace of the Dead to floor 100. (As this is supposed to be normal story line mode). I just don't want to see it in the cash shop and people getting instant 50 from the get-go.
I am sure many do and I am also sure many do not. The only Mr Happy videos I watch are game updates and other game related news.... Just saying watching guides for FFXIV dungeons/raids is kinda boring. Now watching game footage of someone not paying attention to mechanics and royally screws the party by causing a wipe is entertaining. But that is all its for "entertainment" and if I watch screw up videos it would be weeks later after clearing the content. But again that is only for SaGs (Ships and Giggles).
