....If you want to be a sub par, or less than optimal tank sure. A tanks primary job is to hold threat. There will always be times leveling up where you need to grab instant threat on a mob. Either the dps goes crazy right at the start on the wrong mob, or an add shows up just as the healer blows a massive AOE heal, or if you die mid fight, but the healer swift cast and rez's you. Without provoke you will never get the mob back in a death scenario, unless the rest of the party also die to reset their threat. Provoke is a necessity from the moment you can obtain it. There is simply no reason not to have it, and ignoring it just tells me that someone is lazy, and that usually means a sub par tank who is poor in his execution in other areas as well. Not having it puts you at such a disadvantage in so many scenarios. In a big fight, if I knew a tank didnt have it, I would elect to replace him if possible.

My Wife plays warrior and WHM she understands to play these jobs correctly You need to do some leveling of another jobs...

    WHM for Swiftcase > Raise
WAR for provoke in tank swapping...

If people aren't willing to play correctly. AND YES correctly. kicking them till they learn to play correctly is correct action.

I say correctly because the game is setup to play at Endgame levels your required to play at your best which means having your sub skills?
Ya you can get all the way to 60 as a WAR DRK without ever needing provoke. But AT endgame these are required skills to handle content. Now over GEAR and skilling content... is different... but Handling mechanics means having all required skills.

The class system is atrocious and needs to be fixed or completely be removed. It's confusing newcomers. Many people don't even know where the 30lvl Job class quest begins. I've seen players without their job crystal up to lvl 40 and 50 because they missed that quest. Also what's the point of classes? They are completely useless. The cross class skill system is also very silly. It was supposed to be a method to force people to lvl up all the available classes but it mostly backfires than doing any good. Also the cross class skill system never renewed. It stuck there at 2.0. Those things need revamping for sure.

Provoke is arguably THE most important end-game cross-class skill. A majority of endgame fights depend on tank-swapping which is ridiculously difficult to do without Provoke.

Not only is the necessity of Provoke for tank swapping not hinted at during the entirety of ANY tank's pre-endgame progression (not even during GLD/PLD's!), the whole concept of tank swapping in the first place never comes up until you plop into Ultima's Bane or Titan Ex for the first time. Unless it happens to come up in casual conversation, a tank won't know to ask until they're actually in the instance, which will then fail, wasting everyone's time. There's no way a new tank is going to come away from that feeling good about the whole deal, even if the others in the instance were polite and understanding.

    Seriously, that isn't right.

Last time I checked... Endgame players cared enough to learn about their class and aquire any and all possible skills/items that will make them more efficient.

So basically this is all about entitlement. Entitlement has ruined a great deal in this game already and I think you ppl need to get over it. Leveling paladin to 22 is arguably less time consuming then trying to get SE to change the way you get it. If you feel there isn't enough emphasis in knowing that you will need it in endgame... Then you obviously didnt care enough to excel in your class before getting to endgame. Period.

Entitlement?! I know this is the buzzword of the decade, but I hardly think it applies here. The point is that cross-class abilities are not mentioned at all in-game. Heck, I found them by accident when I hit the wrong hotbutton and opened my abilities window. If they are important enough to be considered required, then they should at least get some sort of mention in-game that leveling alternate classes is about more than just opening the job you want.

What if SE switches Fight or Flight for Provoke in the leveling of Gladiator, that way it's within the 1st 15 levels you need to get Warrior and it's just easier to get to level 6 than 22.

I agree with this, it would be a welcome QoL change that wouldn't affect much negatively

Provoke should just be a general skill that can be used by all classes and tank jobs. That way, not every single future tank has to be tied to Gladiator. It could also give gladiator room for a new skill.
