You realize there are a myriad of ways to collect tomes right? You don't ONLY have to dungeon crawl. You can get them from hunts, from maps, or from beast tribes. I'm sure there are other ways now I can't even think about. If you truly burn out from running a roulette or two a day, then try other things to mix it up. Yes, caps can be annoying if you want your gear quickly, but honestly, you can get gear at a pretty decent clip in this game, all while NOT taking up a ton of your daily time either. That leaves you time for enjoying other aspects of the game, like crafting, gathering, sightseeing log, whatever the current event is (GO GO POSING RANGERS!) etc.

    You're a very narrow-minded little Lalafell.

A mentor stole my house, slapped me across the face, and raised my ping from 15 to 30. Literally unplayable.

A game, specially an MMO, isnt only about always having a fun and happy time
I started a longer reply to you but... no, a game should only be about having a fun and happy time, that's what games are for. If the "effort" and "work" you need to put are not fun the game is a failure.

If you're all telling me that this game is not supposed to be fun well then...

You realize there are a myriad of ways to collect tomes right?
I know. You need to tell the other one who thought if half the playerbase stopped doing roulettes, no one would get tomes anymore. I stopped doing roulettes months before unsubbing.

Yes, caps can be annoying if you want your gear quickly
Gearing quickly is not the issue. Ilvls are way inflated for anything but raids anyway. It's about the specific items you can or can't get.

How are your suggestiongs not directed towards us, as in "anyone else whos playing this game"?
Right now I'm only happy that I - more or less - like the way the game is... because that means I've found a game I like - hearing your complains: Good luck to you finding one you will enjoy more - without feeling the need to tell the team behind it "Hey, change the very core of your system because I dont like it"

You're either delusional or trolling.. news flash! You've come to a public forum suggesting something that will affect the entire playerbase! Don't want people 'butting in'? Don't come onto the FFXIV forums in front of people who play the game you're making a very selfish suggestion on and expect only the devs to read your thread and get salty when people don't agree with you.

    ... just wow.

No game is only about fun and having a happy time... the first Final Fantasy I've ever played is FFX. I've defeated the Dark Aeons. Before doing that I spended countless hours of grinding to get my celestial weapons and get my team up. Boy, that was boring - but the reward was worth it for me. A simple game like Memory isnt fun all the way along - its fun when you find a pair. Pokemon isnt fun all the way along - sometimes you're looking for that one pokemon you want to have, running around in one spot, waiting for it to appear... I cant think of one game that I've played that was only fun and a happy time all way through, but thats okay because that makes rewards feel more special and rewarding. Whats so great about just getting stuff thrown in your face instead of working towards it and having that feeling of earning something?

Still eager to hear what it is that you enjoy about a game or used to enjoy about this game btw... I believe you never told us?
(Right now I can only suppose its having a lot of shinies and stuff without doing anything for it except throwing money at the company making the game...)

Edit: They did, my bad for not noticing. But since they dont enjoy running dungeons more than once to get what they want, I can only repeat: You seem to look for a single-RPG experience in an MMO. And you seem to overlook that you're not playing alone. Besides that fact that SE wants us to keep playing, they also have to make sure that there are always enough people running the dungeons for those who are doing it for the first time - so they're giving us rewards and such to run said content again. This game isnt only about me, but it isnt only about you either. If you dont want to farm and grind - you dont have to do that. I know a lot of people who arent and have come to terms with not getting some shinies because those are for people who "deserve" them.

Plus, like you said below, even if those people bought the levels and the gear, they still wouldn't be able to beat it, so why do you care?
This was in response to my pointing out the obvious, if you can buy tomes and there's no cap on tomes, people could have the complete tomes set and have ideal raiding progression gear on day one.

Apparently, this is not prohibitive to people who cannot afford to PAY to have the best gear for savage raiding because they can still play and grind for it.

What OP doesn't realize (likely because OP doesn't raid and hasn't been an active subscriber since 2.5) is that statics form AT THE BEGINNING of the patch, and they stay together (perhaps replacing members as they drop) for the whole raid because these raids it's critical to know your team and to know they understand how to work the fight and to be on the same page. New statics don't just form mid-patch, everyone's already cleared the content at that point and there's no interest. And people who cleared already don't want to carry/teach new people the fight. And frankly, if people are worried about not being able to get into a static later on the patch, the people who actually commit to doing that when you could pay to have a guaranteed spot in a raid on the first day is going to be abysmal. Basically, because of simply social dynamics, people who cannot pay for the best gear will NOT be able to raid in this game anymore. Period. Do you have any concept of how unfair that is to high school kids who still live with their parents, or college students with a limited income (or really, anyone who can just afford to pay the subscription and doesn't have the budget for anything else, which could be said of any demographic)?

Furthermore, if people cannot clear the raids because they didn't practice their job to earn their gear and just bought it so the skill level is total crap, how fun do you think that would be for the people who DO know their jobs and who DO want to clear the raid? I'd be furious and I can't imagine I'd raid that long. I'd prolly write raiding off as a lost cause in general.

Basically, your proposition will kill raiding. People will either 1)get fed up with p2w casuals and quit 2)be a p2w casual and never clear or 3) never be able to get in in the first place.

The fact that you think this would be an IMPROVEMENT for the game means that you are either really, really short-sighted to the point of being willfully blind, or a troll. I bid you good day, sir. o7

Yes, but that has nothing to do with the thread. People aren't quitting because of lockouts. They exist in every MMO, otherwise you wouldn't have a reason to play them for more than a couple weeks each patch cycle. I could literally unsub for two months and only resub for one to do content because there is no restrictions on my progression.
