In what other way doe the game let you know if you're meeting the damage the game wants you to do? You're speaking only from a point of view that someone who just gets lucky with random groups is saying. Why do you think this is such a completely widespread complaint? What honestly do you think the people of the forums are thinking? What IS your point of view?

This is exactly the issue, there isn't one. What you are providing is another blocker, that is all. An HP sponge before an HP sponge, you are suggesting something that has been used IN MMOs for years, including this one. So my question to you is, how does this help? How is this different? How does it let players know they are not ready? because they died? because the duty failed? Well they just had that exact thing in a group setting...( which might I add is the best way to learn in my opinion.)

So if I answer all those questions in a nut shell (and again not trying to be a jerk) but at point blank, really use all your words to explain that in my head, this is what comes out... it is "I don't want to group with bads, so lets give them a bad group to group with, or a thing that makes them able to be bad without effecting me." no offense but that is what I see. It doesn't promote intelligent game play, it doesn't promote improvements in play. It is just a hard check, which we already have... win or lose.

You say it is a wide spread complaint, but if it is so wide spread why do I only see it here? on the forums? Like no seriously, I rarely ever see this complaint in game ever. Either people are boiling over silently, or something else, I can only speak from what I have personally experienced. I'm not saying it is not an issue, one thing I noticed immediately moving to my new server was a change in data center playstyle, but nothing that ever stopped anything from moving forward. If you are speaking strictly of EX or Savage, well then that is people in general... you can't fix that, you can explain and help them, and point the right direction, but people you don't think are ready will still show their face, DPS check or not.

So tlel me, what exactly do you think goes through a players head when they fail a solo check of an HP sponge? Don't you think it would be "maybe I need to improve?"

    Maybe...
Or he just thinks "i don't pay to play just to get a dps wall for every duty i want to do, i'm done..."
especially for healers. SSS doesn't prove that you can play your job, it only proves you can do enough dps in a static environment. Nothing prevents them to suck hard after that with the mechanics like most do anyway.

If you can't beat a static dps check on a dummy you definitely shouldn't be queueing for whatever dungeon/trial that dummy is based on, because you either don't have enough gear or you don't know how to play your job.
