In FF Series the Gunblade users never had a actual Job name nor much Job identity beyond the weapon. Would they choose to follow the Gunblade job with Leather type armor since characters that use Gunblade weapon in FF series are often seen wearing leather/cloth type armor (more towards DPS job) or would they follow it up towards how the Garlean Military user often wear heavy armor (more toward Tank Job).

We know the basic Gunblade is standard issues for Garlean Troops as some cutscenes show basic low ranking garlean foot soldiers use the basic Gunblades.

However, what would be the Job story reason why the WoL can begin training to use a Gunblade Job? Who would be his/her training? What would be the inspiration for the Job's Role and gameplay? Why did it take so long for people outside of Garlean Empire to begin using Gunblades when the basic gunblade are often used as standard issues for the basic garlean foot soldiers?

Technically we already do have gunblades available to players in the game (to use some examples).

Really, gunblades in Hydaelyn are just regular guns with a blade attached to the side of the barrel and are nothing like FFVIII's silly 'sword with a gun-shaped-rumble-pack-attached' weapons - even the unique magitek weapons wielded by Nero and Rhitayan are... nothing that special - designed more to look visually impressive than actually do damage. Also the 'lesser troops' that use gunblades in the Garlean Military are centurions, who are still officers - the regular cannon-fodder grunts who make up the bulk of the Garlean Army use conventional weapons like bows and swords as they are mostly draftees from conquered nations like Ala Mhigo, thus it seems the gunblade is actually a rare weapon even in Garlemald, something they reserve to the elite of their military, the officers and commanders, the rank-and-file soldiers left to use mundane weapons and magic like what we already have here in Eorzea.

Interestingly there's also a certain ironic psychology at work here where the Garleans who are incapable of using magic naturally, instead resort to making huge impressive pointy weapons that shoot 'streams of fire', huge streamlined airships, stout looking Juggernaut fighters and giant towers of ominousness.... one may wonder if like Xande when he built the Crystal Tower, that the Garleans are overcompensating for lacking something else?

So even if we do get a gunblade using class in the game, I do not see it being given the name 'Judge' for the reasons I mentioned in my earlier post.

Wouden't that imply that Aether is linked to ones ability of..."creation" then? As well as bring up some interesting implications with Thancred?

Playing with the notion of a final fantasy staple being implemented in a new way... What about a Chemist that is an int based ranged dps? And rather than using potions to heal and support, they could make explosives and poisons. Rather than having it be a class that relies on premade items (because Yoshi-p has made it pretty clear that won't be a thing) their cast times are actually just constructing/mixing times.

The question at this point would be what kind of weapon it would use... i suppose crossbows could be a thing, since there is precedent there.

I could also see a Chemist being a support role, with mixtures that buff the party and debuff/damage enemies.

If they do implement RDM I would envision it being an int based melee support class, wielding fencing swords and magic in equal measure. But really, they could make it fit in a variety of roles. Support is just the one I feel lends itself most to the jack-of-all trades/master of none history of the job.

Dancer... as much as I enjoyed the class in ffxi I'm not sure i'd like to speculate on it. IF they implement it, I could see it be as any number of things, but again that's because I was able to fill multiple roles as a DNC in ffxi.

If they do introduce Beastmaster I would like to see it as a Tank class. I think it would actually be a pretty unique style of tanking if they do it right. I think the style of pet would have to largely be aesthetic to allow for some individuality without making everything overly complicated, allowing people to tame a multitude of different types of enemies that would all function the same. Perhaps allowing a stable of 2 differing monster pets, one that would essentially function as a tank stance/pet and one that would function as a dps stance/pet for offtanking or open-world combat.

I really want Dancer to be a healer/support. So bad.

This leads me to speculate if BLU is implemented, it could possibly be a tank. BLU gets its strength from being hit by and learning attacks. That being said, it isn't that far of a stretch to see them in a tank role. Perhaps besides learning actual abilities of mobs, they could do things like pop a cd before a mob's move, and then "learn" it so the next time it is performed it does no/mitigated damage the next time it is used for. Kind of like a one use utsusemi for a specific mob move.

DNC could be a choice for a disciple of war healer. It would be rather close to its XI iteration, and as far as I know the only time DNC was a healer. However, I would still welcome the addition of DNC to the roster as a healer.
    This is an interesting thought.
It would also lend to samurai taking the dps slot.

If they gave us Dancer as a Healer or DPS I would be good to go.
    (Preferably Healer. Please.)

I'd love a Chemist style healer with unique potions they throw to the target similar to the way it was done in Final Fantasy Tactics. A non-magic healer is in this vein is something I would absolutely want to play. Chemist in Tactics (the one I'm most familiar with) was really a defensive/support class, at least until you could buy guns in Chapter 2, then they could be pretty ridiculous with the ranged damage. As far as weapon goes they could still use guns, but it would be a different type, a flintlock style pistol instead of the mch's large carbines.

I'm sure these things have been mentioned, but it's not like SAM can't have some damage mitigation skills and still be DPS as a Job. BLM can mitigate damage on themselves and others, NIN had perfect dodge which avoided one phys attack completely, MNK has an INT down debuff, DRG can parry and so on.

3rd Eye can just be like old Perfect Dodge. Imagine how NIN got enmity manipulation skills 50-60, and just place SAM there, with mitigation skills for the party. Either way, I'm sure they have an interesting way to make them play out. Especially if they add battle system mechanics that we currently don't have now.
