You just described this game from 2.0 until where we're at now. It's always replacing old gear with newer, better gear.

I, for one, am happy they made the new sets the way they did. What it does is help those who were just below the top tier of crafters step up onto the platform the rest are on. This is good because it drives prices down and makes everything cheaper for everyone because there are more competitors.

It is difficult to feel sorry for people who are sitting on a billion gil because before now, there were only a handful of crafters doing the majority of the top end work.
