I did a round of 5 Favors this morning just to start emptying out my retainers and I got 32 Void Nuts + 10 Heavensnut in just 5 Favors... did they increase the drop-rate?

Yes it was noted in 3.3 patchnote
Rise of favor node and reduction of mats exchange from 10 to 3 ovoid/nuts
Thanx, I missed that bit. They really made 2* Materials accessible, wonder if they will ever include them in new recipes or if they will be only for 2* Crafted gear.
They also drop in high quantities from aquapolis. But there's really no point in making the 2star stuff anymore.

Yeah carbon stuff is a lot cheaper for more or less the same level of stat
Just no overmelding (but enough to go for 3*)
Aquapolis also give a lot of crafted 2* crafted mats
I got astral silk and adamantite ingot just with that

Ok, so now that I have one job at 60 for crafting (culinarian) and a few more to follow soon, from what I am hearing, I should go buy the Carbon gear? I know it can't be overmelded and have to place the IV materia on right so I can make the 3* crafts (after getting the books). I can afford to buy the HQ armor. Do I need to get the acc too? Or more better, what ones to actually get?
Also, should I try to get the craft specific gear? I'm focusing on Cul, Alc, and I think Leather. Ya, seems like the crafting scene is confusing for someone now entering into it.
Can someone work out the best rotation using only the 180 full set (including both left and right side plus tools being only the non-materia melded 180's), add into the calculations being a specialist. I want to work out if SE's standard (what once was red scrip) full set is good enough to even be able to craft the 3* ilvl190/195 pieces and how close to 100% HQ they can get. I don't need to know that melded gear is a better option as I already know that, I am just curious what the best you can achieve with SE's previous 180 full set in 3* crafting as a specialist.

With full token i180 across the board, you need Heavensegg Soup HQ to hit the craft and control requirements for the i190 pieces. And you will have a much smaller pool of CP to work with. With full HQ mats and a little luck you can do it, but it will be very risky. I would at least take those token i180s and turn a few into i200 augmented versions.

Stats with Heavensegg and both FC buffs will be: 891 Craftsmanship, 848 control, and 382 CP. The main problem here is the CP gimping due to the need to use Heavensegg to make the stat requirement. You could probably modify Rath's a bit, but you won't be able to use MMII, so that limits you a bit.
You will need >5000 starting quality to hit 100% HQ if everything goes perfectly. I'm just not sure it is worth the risk.

You're only saving 30 durability with your WNII...
Low CP isn't that bad, you just can't use a rigid rotation that might as well be a macro. I've been doing 2-3 stars since they came out with ~419 CP, the stuff is easy.
