Wrong some glamours/mounts are from events and you can no longer get.
An what happens if those that did play during the event get deleted because they happened to have names like "River Song", "Twilight Sparkle", "Jonah Hex", "Widow Maker" or "Arnold Schwarzenegger"? they lose those items forever.
From looking around in the thread I don't really see anyone saying that any level character should be deleted, at least I have not so don't put words in my mouth. I said under level 30 and under that haven't logged in in more then a year you know the people I'm talking about lets not twist it around into something it not. Cause I'm sure people are just going to be heartbroken especially the people that created a level one character and then never play cause they lost their name or unplayed character. Person has to be above level 15 to take part in events anyways.
I gave up, seems that the verdict is that level 10 and under chars are loaded up with event items, rare mounts and other exclusivities. There is no compromise here, every character more valuable than diamonds
'This' is about anime? I thought it was about using names that are popular...
Oh come on. Grow up and figure out a new name.
You want someone's character deleted so you can have their name. Let's say the character is an alt of someone who took a year off because of work, and your childish, selfish desire to have their name results in their alt being deleted. When they return to the game, one of their characters has been removed without their permission, all for the convenience of you. It doesn't matter how much you want the name, nor how long that character is inactive, the name is taken, and you're simply going to have to figure out another name.
I'll say this once again, it's really very simple;
Deleting a player's alt characters, even if they've been inactive since 2013 is a punishing that player for having an infrequently used Alt. You might not have a problem with it, but others would. The entire discussion is talking about something that is a punishment to those it affects, a punishment for no wrong doing purely for the convenience of others. That's ridiculous.

Not everybody has a basic account. Meaning that in most cases this level 1 character, belongs to a person that has a main character (everything 60) and enjoys playing that alt one day, like in between patches or whatever.From looking around in the thread I don't really see anyone saying that any level character should be deleted, at least I have not so don't put words in my mouth. Also most of us veteran players have those characters as a name holder, yes I know people don't like it but it's not to upset others. Some of us transfer regularly between servers to help out other raid statics since the raid finder is just new and don't have everything in it. When we return we can then delete that level 1 and be able to move back without having to rename our characters. Or some people do use it since its server transfer with name change bonus, without having to pay separately for it. Some use it as banks since they don't want to pay for extra retainer space.
Either way, no matter what the reason is for people to have level 1 - 30 characters, that not been used for over the last months/years isn't anyone's business. Those people played the game from the start and if they want to keep their names on 100000 servers they don't even play on then so be it. I think there should never be an option to remove/release/delete names just because some player that joined 3 months ago can't get the name he wanted. I don't even know if I should laugh at that.
I see, my apologies.From looking around in the thread I don't really see anyone saying that any level character should be deleted, at least I have not so don't put words in my mouth. To clarify, my main reason for wanting this is to prune data usage and increase server look up time, reducing server load and freeing up resources. Honestly, I do not care much about the name either way. We take away houses, which are hard-earned with millions of gil, months of preparation, and a minimum level character. Why not prune some never-to-be-played-again level 2 character to help our limited server space. Seems like a great way to recycle the resources we have.
