I think after a year of no use, the name should be deleted from a server. If you can't even bother to log into it once every 365 days, it's just taking up server space.

The amount of players who start a character and never use them again is huge, I challenge anyone to find some low levels on Lodestone and check back in a month, I can almost guarantee half of them won't have budged.

A level 10 character is nothing to cry over if it gets deleted. Also if their name is THAT important to them, I'm sure they can level up to 10 to keep their character.

Yes. Characters should never be deleted unless they break rules. However, could see losing name if inactive and unsubscribed for sufficient time and someone requests name. Shouldn't be an automatic system though.

I can agree with that idea. I just think it's silly for people to be completely against deleting these characters, or at least taking their names and forcing them to name change. If someone is never going to log in again it's hardly fair that they keep a name from someone else, especially if they played once with no intention of ever playing again.

They dont typically serve year long deployments. And most of them do get internet access overseas now.

Lot of people use this as a argument but it not really a valid one as they usually have plans set up for someone else to take care of this. They usually just don't talk about it cause of ToS reasons. This pretty much goes for anything in the game that would have a timer.

I'll say it again, deleting characters does nothing for you, you shouldn't even be entertaining the idea.

-Names, ok.
-Characters, not unless Square absolutely needs to do it. (Again, Square should tell us if they need this, not the players telling Square they should do it for some abstract reason.)
