Because this is my story. It'll go the way I want.
Greetings, everyone!
I'd like to take a moment to respond to this concern, and let you know we're hearing your thoughts!
Thank you for your continued feedback regarding the target display limit in 24-man instances. Our Lead UI Artist Hiroshi Minagawa recently acknowledged this concern in the Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XXVIII, sharing the following:The problem is in raid-wide content, where everyone is placing their DoTs and debuffs on the enemies/boss that sometimes your DoTs/debuffs dont show up, and you are left wondering, when to refresh or if the DoT/debuff even showed up at all. This is a big issue for Summoners, Scholars, and Bards who rely on DoTs for a big part of their damage. And to add insult to injury, with skills like Sidewinder and Fester, sometimes they don't register if the DoT markers aren't there.

We didn't know what kinds of actions would be added in the future so we squeezed in as much information that can be displayed during a battle as possible. Now that we have a better understanding of how much space we have, we believe we can increase the amount of information displayed, so please give us a little more time for this.![]()

You realize you get the advantage regardless of being in the same party or not on ALL debuffs, right? There's no party-specific Slashing Resistance Down. The enemy just starts taking more damage from Slashing sources regardless of their user.
That said, your Dancing Edge example does make me wish there were certain priorities or criterias we could adjust for what or whose debuffs other than our own we want shown. Otherwise we end up with a bunch of NINs each wasting 60 potency per rotation. Honestly, if I were coming from the 'only by debuffs visible' point of view, that might even be more important to me than the issue of my DoTs not showing. I've been dealing with the latter long enough to count to 18 in my head each time... Sucks, but it works.
Holy rays of light and such. Thanks for the heads up.
Hello,
Regarding the status bar display limit I had a thought:
Would it be possible to condense the debuff information to a single icon per action, with a counter in lieu of an expiration timer?
eg. Say there are 5 ninjas in an alliance.
Instead of Dancing Edge, Shadow Fang, SF, SF, SF, SF and Mutilate, Mut, Mut, Mut, Mut - which is messy and wasteful
You just have one icon for Dancing Edge (x1), one for Shadow Fang (x5), and for Mutilate (x5).
In effect you reduce 11 icons to 3, which saves an absolute ton of space especially considering Summoner/Scholar DoTs.
Edit: Visual representation

The problem is that stacking buffs/debuffs also seem to reset the status (Vulnerability Up being a Prime example). Which might make this an issue unless they can get around it.
IF they do managed to make that a non-issue, then it would be ideal for ALL DoTs, Thunder, Aero, Bio, Fracture...they already have Stacking Poison debuffs
Actually I thought about this issue more, it got me thinking of an old addon I used in WoW. Basically the addon showed you the timers on your own personal debuffs in a separate part of the screen you could place it at so you could track them without having to look at the enemy HP bar.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
