COLORS DO NOT EQUAL BETTER STATS, YOSHI-P. COLORS ARE A F*CKING VANITY THING.I just noticed, and thought I'd throw this out there because it kind of goes along with the OP.
wtf is with colored versions of gear having different class requirements and better stats? That should've been an obvious major nono. Whats the point of even having undyed gear if that piece is going to be inferior to the colored one?
Personally I find the Cobalt (Red) gearset rather hideous, but I'm forced to wear it over the perfectly fine Cobalt set simply because I don't want to miss out on better stats :/
You don't make people wear specific colors for the goddamn stats, dolt.
yeah and being restricted to gear that EVERYONE of the same class wears feels generic and retarded. It gives you no individuality and makes you look the SAME as everyone else minus a simple color swap. Whoopde freakin do.
Yeah that's their WHOLE big thing on individuality! "you can now dye your gear!"
yeah because having my armor be Red instead of brown is so fucking individual!
it's one thing for "Class identity" but a whole different subject when it comes to "individuality"
Which exists in maybe 2 MMO's in the world.
Aion and Rift.
It is when you use another piece of equipment to MAKE the coloured goods. Take cobalt Cuirass, for example. The red-coloured version requires one more cobalt plate along with the dye. If that doesn't give extra stats, I don't know WHAT does.
I think that's just silly, the original recipe should require optional dye and that's it. Poor design on SE's part imo.
Every MMO I've played gear with better stats had different colors and different color auras to designate it's worth. Some even had auras that grew in size depending on how powerful the gear was.
Personally. I prefer the requirements over favor.
If we're gonna talk individuality I'm going to say three words:yeah and being restricted to gear that EVERYONE of the same class wears feels generic and retarded. It gives you no individuality and makes you look the SAME as everyone else minus a simple color swap. Whoopde freakin do.

EVERY MMO game developer should review that game as a case study on what to do right, and what NOT to do.
Hmm, nope. Pretty sure every MMO I've played come from a Western Developer, Chinese, Korean or Japanese developer. Much like a common system in MMOs these days are to push the player to max level through questing, color coding is a very common system in eastern MMOs.
So unless "garbage" MMOs only uses this system, that makes XIV garbage as well in retrospect, no?

Still, my point stands. If you've played Star Wars Galaxies, I'm sure you understand what I mean by individualization.
I was a three-year SWG veteran, and I really loved the customizability in that game.
