I got to Rank 9 pre 1.18 in 1 behest. This sounds broken to me.

Are you nuts? Pretty much every game has you get armor for your job and armor that is YOUR lvl. I don't know what your problem is honestly. This is basic for any RPG.
And the difference is, in every other game you recieve a LOT of your armor from quests, or you can buy it for a reasonable price from vendors, or craft it easily yourself. In this game, none of those options are available to new players. There are almost 0 quests that give armor rewards at low level, the armor from shops is outrageously expensive, and crafting your own requires you to level multiple crafting classes to 10+.Are you nuts? New players are slammed right now, which is retarded, as you're driving away new or returning customers who're here to check out 1.19.
Dated gear = crappy. non optimum gear = crappy. then add in nobody has even started making the new 'uncrappy' gear yet. We had a bunch of new players on today, and they struggled.
Until a lvl 50 found the level difference restrictions were gone, and power levelled the shit out of them.
GG on balance there.
The dated stuff combined with the fact there is no new gear for sale yet, COMBINED with the fact crafters being the greedmongers they are (the economy was wacky anyway) Are gonna charge through the nose for the new stuff because they can.
So the newbies are running around in their starting clothes, weak as hell, unable to fight stuff of the same level in a lot of cases. They don't have the kind of money for the prices the new gear will cost. and crafters will only be interested in the 'money synths' anyway, the gear the lowbies need just isn't going to be available.
GG Guys, you actually created a mire between rich and poor. In a video game.
New players got rammed, and it's a shame, cause this patch was pulling genuine interest.

Strange they would make these kinds of changes to new players with the recent news sites publishing info on the anticipated 1.19 patch. I seen a few new players frustrated with the early levels.
Shit, I'm struggling on my pugilist just fighting mobs at it's own rank, and that's with what little help skills like Cure, Sacrifice, Protect, Shell, Siphon MP, and Stygian Spikes provide.
I can't imagine what it would be like to try and level a DoW without these skills.
I've yet to play after the patch, but it sounds nice to me. I don't think nerf is the word for low level xp here... because when you could get 1-25 just in a flash, that went by a bit quickly. I'm one of those ffxi fans though, so a lv 1-30 pacing matching up the pacing there sounds good enough to me. Especially if it (finalllly) get's people grouping again. The idea of getting parties going on is so good, and adding that lv 15 cave for low level parties as well is nice....
I think the only real complaint is with the search function. Not how hard things are. Bringing about design changes without bringing about a good way to form out-of-ls groups is frustrating, and /that's/ more of a barrier to new players than any particular challenge level.
It would be good if a game could cater perfectly to both solo and multiplayer types, sure. I think that's really really hard to pull off though, and I think it's fairly clear that a majority of people here would rather do party-based events than solo up to 50 and beyond, so I think the devs simply chose to lean heavily in the party direction while still allowing enough leeway to solo yourself up if you /really/ want to. Being able to solo to 50 doesn't mean it will be fast though, or fun. And I don't think it should necessarily be either, although I'm glad it's an option for every class (as opposed to xi, where a lot of classes ran into serious difficulty soloing later on, until various items/new jobs became available).
It's only broken for solo players. A level 50 can powerlevel someone so fast it's insane. Is that good design?I've yet to play after the patch, but it sounds nice to me. Which happens in every MMO. Here's a challenge:
Join any established MMOs, the older the better, and see if you're able to afford a lot of the good gear for your level on the AH or vendors the very first 3 hours of your career.
Okay killer, calm down. I'm a new player and just started leveling solo as a level 1 Marauder. I'm currently level 9 and have had no problems and it hasn't been anything like you're describing. Stop freaking out because something has changed. People really need to always have something to complain about, huh?
