    Thats a sad threat...

What do you think the majority of us have been doing for the last year?

    Playing with no new players.

The oldhats around here have seen worst times than this and lived to tell the tale. Frikin grow a set.

Theres a solution to every issue you presented. Others found these solutions, but yould rather have whine with your cheese.

Point of this whole thread is: "Hi im a newb im lost and dont understand how to play this game because its intimidating."

    Want some advice?
Here ya go: this is a frikin MMO. That stands for Massive MULTIPLAYER Online. Stop posting on a MMO forum, "guys i cant solo well as a newb this game isnt as fun as kirby on snes".

Instead get your lazy butt in the game and start socializing. Make friends, do behest with others, do beastman camp fights, get exp links/chains, shout for help in city.

Dont have gil? Sell shards on MW or do what every other player has done and lvl a frikin craft, make your own flippin gear!

But for The Twelves sakes, dont throw yourselves to the wolves by posting your legit questions in the form of a cryfest. The vets around here will eat you alive.

Once again: game is better than ever, this isnt a solo game. Its built on a multiplayer schemata and therefore meant to be played that way...

To the OP, the best advice I can give you is try and find a good LS. What server are you on anyway?

If you are running leves, or just solo grinding I would recommend trying to do that with a party, you can take our mobs faster without fear of dying. The dev team stated that they wanted solo fights between you and a same ranked mob to take around 30s - 45s and finish with half your life. So that's to be expected.

My best advice would be to pick up a wand for CNJ and/or THM from a vender in the city and level those to 4 to learn cure. I would also level pug to 6 to learn second wind. With cure and second wind you will increase your survivability (sp?) and increase your xp gain.

When you party and chain/link the xp goes up rather fast. And quests tend to give nice boosts to xp as well. I haven't run into any issues, but again I don't have any classes below level 10, so that one part of it.

Further more, the game is balanced for gear with at least one piece of materia, and until that gear starts showing up on the market you're better off picking up a crafting class and doing some crafting leves to help out with your money issues.

Hope any of this was a help.

Shame this had to go to page 3 before someone responds with maturity.

    Any active recruiting shells in Saronia? I get so lonely sometimes ;;

Honestly speaking, the lvl1 leves only slowed me down.
Perhaps this was part of my problem, as I did 4 r1 leves in this time frame along with grinding. But aren't leves SUPPOSED to be the way to solo? Isn't that what Yoshi-P said they were for? It doesn't make a lot of sense that you'd have to simply grind constantly to level.

Thanks for the pleasant response Delmontyb. While I agree that partying makes a lot more sense, this is more just focused on solo. I guess I was just hoping that this game would cater to BOTH solo and party play, not just party. Oh well, perhaps this game just isn't for me. That's fine, I have other options.

newbs learn. noobs whine and ignore the 5+ people around them calmly telling them they're mistaken.
That's funny, because I certainly haven't seen anyone, other than Delmontyb, posting anything constructive. Everyone else just bashed me and called me a newb. Honestly, I don't mind that. I've got a thick skin. It's just funny because I know that most of the people bashing me haven't even TRIED to level at low levels or on a new character, and the one guy who has claims that he has somehow managed to get almost twice as far as me doing the exact same thing in the exact same time. Clearly I must just be a noob though and not know how to target a mob, hit auto attack, and spam WS when I have TP and use second wind when my health is low. Low levels aren't rocket science. There aren't that many options available, so when someone says they are getting twice as far as someone else doing the same thing, it doesn't really add up...

At higher levels, yes. The mechanics definitely change as you level up.

I'd save them for later, lvl10 or 20 perhaps.

You added in the first mission or you just talking about the start where you fight something?

I am also including that, and I've made my fair share of lv 13 chars, search "Virtue" on besaid lol, each one took about 30 mins from Creation > 13 with leves. Though I could understand wanting to maybe save leves for crafting, but you get better money from dow and most people would do them. I dont know if they got nerfed now, this was back before 1.18 haha so could be all different now and you get nothing from leves, im talkin about when the tutorial leve would hit you lv 4 instantly, next lv 7, next 10!
They were massively nerfed. Leve mobs give about a quarter of the XP that they did before. I did 4 r1 leves starting at rank 1. I made it just past rank 4 when I finished... over an hour later. That just doesn't seem right to me.

Funny enough, aside as they say "easy mode" games this is actually correct pacing when compared to other MMOs. Many MMOs out there have xp rates that hit the millions till next level. So going from say, 1-20 in 5 hours with 7 million TNL, is about on par with how low/slow Xp TNL in XIV is.

Prepatch, 4 leves would usually get me from r1 to r9 or somewhere close.

Now the only leve I think worth doing is the one that rewards 5 potions. They come in handy.

Edit: Talking about rank 1 & tut leves.. just to clarify
