I'm seeing plenty of new lower ranked people popping up all over Limsa in Mysidia.
The fact is, that the economy restarted. Now there is much more incentive to make low level gear, because gear actually matters. You can't just skip it anymore. More demand is created (and not just because old gear leaves the economy at a much more rapid rate), and that means profit to those who take advantage of it. Not to mention creating stuff is much easier now.The fact is that the population is low, and there's not many new players coming in, so gear in the lower levels is harder to come by, and from what I've seen pretty damn expensive.
But it doesn't happen overnight and you need to wait for a while. Maybe that is unreasonable? Either way, not much can be done at this point yet.
I'd prefer to play the game instead of wait for the economy to even out. I don't think it's unreasonable, but I do think it sucks. Maybe I'll try my hand at crafting some new clothes if things become too frustrating. The fact is, that the economy restarted. I read this whole thread because I was a bit schocked after playing for 30mins last night after patch the difference it made to my combat ability.
I played way back in beta but didn't pick it up at release because I knew it wasn't worth a sub then. Last week I picked up a copy in a local game shop because it was in a sale for £5. I've played maybe 15 hours since friday and reached 17 marauder as main job and leveled a few other things to 7 or so. I was pretty please with the game tbh and enjoying myself. I took to it like a duck to water and felt the difficulty was maybe a bit easy but the pacing was good giving access to story quests. Gil was an issue for me and I've only bought a couple of pieces of gear so far. I also took advice to buy late 20s early 30s gear as it would be the same price as low level gear and I'd grow into it. Obviously this is now false so I'll be set back a bit there until I can sell it.
Now my 1.19 ibservations. I am incredibly weak at 17 with the resources of a genuinely new player. The reduction in Gil from levs since beta means I have scraped together 70k between lvl 1 and 17 including the other couple of jobs I have leveled. I don't have a realistic chance of having a set of low level gear from markets. I am however going to look into making it myself. I'm duoing with a friend so we can split jobs between us and hopefully cover all the bases quickly.
When I say I'm incredibly weak I mean a level 16 rose raped me last night I had burned all my MP on cure used 2 bloodbaths with trunksplitter and had taken maybe 20% of it's life when it killed me. A level 20 1star Lev I tried 1shot me. This is a night and day change. I went from 980 HP to 380HP my damage is around 1/3 of what it was.
I'm going to do allot more experimentation tongiht but on the face of it this feels bad at new player level. New players have little idea of game mechanics and limited or non existent resources to experiment. The game should be educating you in it's systems at that point and giving you a chance to develope the knowledge and skills.
patch 1.19 feels like sprinting into a glass door right now.

I had started a new character for the sake of this patch, and because I wanted a reason to play.
The blow to my exp struck me in the gut at first.
But after I got used to it, and realized the basics of chains/level difference, it started to make sense, and it started being fun.
And then I went crafting, and WOAH. I could make all the gear I needed for my GLA rank 13, even though most of my crafts were under level 10!
And then I road the airship and WOAH LOOK AT THE VIEW FROM ULDAH.
And then I road a chocobo and WOAH, THIS IS FUN!
I like this patch. Suddenly the game is more challenging in an endearing way.
- Changes to Battle classes was necessary but not to end up with underpowered classes that cant hold his own when battling more than one enemy his level
- Slow regen rate and longer abilities recast translates to longer unnecessary grinding
- Changes to raw mat results translates to atleast 400%~600% longer time and more expensive leveling up
I think this patch brought us a lot closer to FFXI which is a VERY bad thing. Not saying FFXI is bad, but I play FFXIV for its own merits not becuase it cloned another dating and already changing game.

Forgot that jobs= more powerful and better for party? once that happen i bet class would be better for soloing like they said it going to be.- Changes to Battle classes was necessary but not to end up with underpowered classes that cant hold his own when battling more than one enemy his level
