This is a bit of a matter of contention for me. I don't have a problem with people who play the Job, or how the Job preforms, but there are a lot of factors about how the Job is designed and how to play it that I find very frustrating. There are things like the fact that Deliverance, and the skills connected to it, was essentially SE giving Lancer to Warrior without actually giving Lancer to them, which in turn has shown just how powerful almost unchecked stance dancing is in this game. Warriors I also find to be frustrating in pinch moments, I think of the three tanks, Warrior is the most like Astrologian when it comes to stressful situations where things have gone wrong. A Paladin can start off-healing, a Dark Knight can turtle extremely well, Warriors have Inner Beast, maybe some other self-healing, but are often out of tools by the time things start going wrong during progression fights. My issues about Warrior also stem from the increasing commonness of mechanics that require tank mitigation with few or no viable targets to Inner Beast around, and while Warrior can simply boost their health to absurd amounts and heal themselves to try to just soak the hit, I find that is often inadequate or places unnecessary stress on the healers. As a last note, and one that quite frankly makes me green with envy as a Dark Knight main, is that it seems like shortsightedness that the maximum damage rotation for Warrior involves their enmity combo being executed in full.
I wouldn't say Warrior is well designed, just that it is currently well suited for the metagame and that it serves as an example of what a tank in this game should be, rather than what they are. Likewise, there are plenty of issues I take with Paladin and Dark Knight, I just see the issues in Warrior as more significant and influential because they have become the standard that all other tanks are measured by. As I said in my prior post, I honestly don't want another tank, I want them to polish and fix the tanks we have now rather than just heaping more skills onto us that will either be increasingly more niche, or in the case of skills like Fell Cleave, Abyssal Drain, and Shelltron practically kill off their competition.
