    It...wasn't.
You could enter coil without an ilvl requirement when it wasn't on the duty finder...and it's the same, now, for Alexander Savage.
Every duty in the DF has an ilvl requirement. But like I said, you can easily have enough gear to meet the requirement, then change it once you're Inside, providing you don't skip content.

So, that's that, you carried people.

It's already bad enough that people cheat their item levels just to get into the high level duties.

There have been many cases where I've seen someone with mostly low level gear, and they simply buy a ring or something to boost their item level to get in. They usually end up underperforming and causing more harm than good.

There's also the cases where people cheat their item level by using gear for another class on the class they want to get in with. Which also leads to more performance loss.

I cant see any reason that anyone would want someone to join their party when they cant even meet minimum requirements.

I don't think removing the Ilvl for premade and undersized is a good idea, but I would like to tone it down somehow: a friend of mine just reached 60 a few weeks ago but she couldn't do any dungeon because it required 170 at minimum (despite the first dungeon drops 160 loot and...wait why does the roulette is locked at 170 if the very first loot is 160? -Mindblown-).

So what happened was I spent about 1m-2m gil to help her reaching the required Ilvl before we could do the dungeons together. I gave her some ideas for gathering item levels like hunts (which didn't work well) and dailies (which she didn't unlock yet and doesn't want yet) but suffice to say it would've taken weeks before she could do just the normal roulette so I had to speed it up. All this to show that this could be a struggle for new players when they reach 60. It wouldn't be such an issue if they kept the old 170 loot available though or something but as soon as a new player reaches 60, he or she might have troubles to gather enough gear to have the least required item level. Craftable gear is one but she only had about 200-400k gil to spend. I spent nearly 2m for her gear.

This should count at least for normal 60 roulette anyway: expert and anything else shouldn't count. I might be wrong though but this is just my experience with an actual real new player by my side.

I agree, ilvl requirement should be nullified if running as a full premade group (in non-roulette cases, maybe, though even then, if you're fully premade, ilvl shouldn't be enforced). Especially with the ilvl gap jump to go from Fractal to Mocianne's arboretum, or even just following msq, having a 180+ requirement on antitower. It dissuades new players, since they removed an entire currency section that gapped this divide before, without really adding a reliable way of gearing to 170 after fractal/neverreap. You can use centurio seals, sure, but that's not exactly a concise way of doing things, and, is rather limited unless you hunt religiously for a/s ranks. Which isn't a very viable expectation.

    Can this thread die yet?

If someone can't meet the minimum, craft them stuff so they can. There is no minimum for current savage raids, and if you want to go lower than minimum, change your gear in the instance. That's all there is to it.

Can you just not come into a thread you don't want to partake in a discussion with? It's not rocket science. And that's not an extremely viable option either (the crafting bit, I mean) as not everyone has access to that kind of stuff, and, looking at the market board, and this may come as a shock to you, but, the 180 crafted coat for nin(griffin leather coat of scouting) has NEVER been on the mb before on Siren. The sky pirate's jacket (185) is 1 mil. Not everyone has crafter friends/access to crafting that stuff themselves, therefore that lame excuse you gave has zero viability.

I'm with Ilitsa here: as I just said in my post I had to spend about 1-2m gil just to help my friend with crafted 220 gear JUST to be able to join the first dungeons (she was about 150 when reached 60). I'm not saying to remove it though but at least easing it up a bit for new players who just don't have the proper ways to grab gear without doing dungeons.

Why didn't hunts go well? The old 170 law gear was moved to Centurio Seals and you can get around a full set of 170 gear just by doing the daily and weekly centurio hunts for a week. You also get the items to upgrade to 180 in the same manner.

Weekly b-rank hunt bill yields 100 centurio seals.
Daily trash hunt bills yield 110 centurio seals.

That's 870 centurio seals without touching a or s ranks.

A full set of 170 gear costs what? 920 seals? How is that not a viable upgrade method? Because it takes a week of play to accomplish?
