874 skill speed at the moment in A8S. With the way my group handles robo-phase, I use purification at the beginning of the phase and require a short burst of TP as we move to brawler. I generally completely bottom out at the end of this phase shifting into Brute Justice phase with invig barely coming off cd. I usually use purification here again and invig during brute justice. You then have 100% TP going into gavel and winged justice and seems to hold out till the end of the fight (haven't had enough time in the final phase to test). 900 sks seems completely fine. These are based on an encounters were you won't run out of TP. While I haven't been into A8S there should be multiple opurtunities to get in purification and you also have a BRD/MCH. Tbh if there was such a thing as a low SkS monk I would definitely chose it over the high SkS but as long as we're forced to be over 700 SkS the differense is being able to last about 5% more into a fight.
I'm going to switch to MNK real soon. Can anyone tell me the BiS without savage gear?
Is it just straight up all lore or a mixture of lore & midas gear?

I'm not worrying about it.
I just want to get as much as currently possible (for my circumstances) out of my class (raiding is not an option for me at the moment).
Depending on what content you're planning to do and how much acc you need it's either all lore if you need acc or lore mixed with nm and pentamelded crafted.
Anyone willing to share their Monk controller setup ?
I don't really think controller set up matters on monk. Not many different skills that you have to use constantly and you'll have to commit it to muscle memory anyway. But if you're looking to make it easy i'd say put your bs, true, snap, and demo on the R2 side( assuming you're on ps4) of your hotbar on x, triangle, square, circle and put DK, ts, form shift and chakra the same way on the L2 side. That way you can do all of those while moving. The rest of it is up to you. But like I said, it really doesn't matter. All my main skills are all spread out it wierd places( I just kept them where ever the game decided to put them) and I do just fine. My chakra and form shift aren't even on the main hotbar
I've got another question! I was in a party with another Monk on Seph Ex and she asked if I was using Lock on, to which I answered no, and she said that I was losing a lot of DPS without it. Is it true? How imperative is it because I'm pretty sure I am hitting all my auto-attacks (or is the animations just for show?), and using Lock-on really screws up my sense of perspective in a fight when I have to move around a lot.
No you aren't losing dps by not using lock on. On ps4 at least, by default your auto attacks initiate once you use a weapon skill or once you press X after targeting an enemy. So you can press X to target them and then X again to start auto attacks. There may be ways to change this in settings or something which is why someone may have made that comment
