thank you, these are weapons that are taken directly from a glowing beasts body, not crafted by a mindless drone who only likes the way steel and copper looks on weapons.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?

Not Eorzean, the art direction of FFXIV. Every item has to be kept within certain artistic boundaries. Otherwise the direction becomes inconsistent and detached. No game wants that to happen, and no, it is not common for companies to change their art direction in the same game. Between different games, sure. All you will have is a bunch of artistic nonsense where nothing fits anywhere.
You do realize that all of the current crafted gear comes from only within the confines of Eorzea right? Eorzea is only one continent with 6 major cities on it, 3 of which we don't have access to (Sharlayan, Ishgard and Ala Mhigo). All of the current artistic direction comes from one of those cities on the same continent. It is decidedly Eorzean. The only reason it is the only artistic direction we're familiar with is because it's the only one we've been exposed to aside from the Garleans who we have had limited interaction with. So people are mistaking the art direction of the game with the Eorzean style of equipment because honestly it's all we've really seen and used. Not Eorzean, the art direction of FFXIV. Even the Garlean art direction is drastically different from that of Eorzea and hardly realistic. As I stated before their armor has a much more noble and military look to it and is often comprised mainly of the colors black, red or silver. They have gun-hybrid weapons, something we would not expect from an Eorzean weapon.
There are also other continents out there which we haven't even come across yet. I'm willing to bet that their artistic direction is drastically different from Eorzea's.
I think they're just fine, and the glow effect is not overdone.
The bow may be a little big.
it is this sense of entitlement that bothers me. developers are doing a job. they don't owe us anything nor do we owe them anything. i understand that you don't like how they look and im o.k with that. i can agree to disagree. but ur basically trying to tell picasso to use a crayon rather than a paintbrush because u feel like it would look better.
me, also being a developer, i see my work as art. im not bothered if people don't like the concept or how it looks, thats part of criticism, but for people to try and tell me what is best for me and my company is offensive.
im fine with your opinion of how they look. just dont go up in arms trying to force them to change it after they put a lot of time and effort into designing and developing the weapons. not unless ur the lead developer of course, then u can do what u want
this is correct. these are professionals after all.it is this sense of entitlement that bothers me. developers are doing a job. they don't owe us anything nor do we owe them anything.
who is to say there is no strategic marketing planning involved in the way these weapons were designed? who are we to tell SE they have their own art direction incorrect?
players have their own vision for the game, but so do the people creating it.

Calling BS on you being a developer. As a developer you OWE your customers a good product. That is how you'd still be a developer. Also by your logic, we shouldn't have whined that FFXIV was complete crap 1 year ago because, as you yourself just said, we shouldn't have gone "up in arms trying forcing them to change it". No, the dev team is held to a standard set by the people who are going to buy/buying their product. If they do not meet those standards they will probably find themselves getting fired by the parent company.it is this sense of entitlement that bothers me. developers are doing a job. they don't owe us anything nor do we owe them anything. i understand that you don't like how they look and im o.k with that. i can agree to disagree. but ur basically trying to tell picasso to use a crayon rather than a paintbrush because u feel like it would look better.

i think he just meant that some people come off as if their opinion and theirs alone should have a direct noticeable impact on the development of the game.Calling BS on you being a developer. ive seen just as many people say they generally like the ifrit weapons and cant wait for more as ive seen complaints. the developers themselves plus about half of the forums like the weapons, so who are they not satisfying at this point?
they cant satisfy everyone, but i know looots of people who dont play who might after seeing this part of the update.
they might actually think they game looks cool rather than pretty or how possibly real you can get.
