After going through the patch notes this is the only thing that I don't like. It makes no sense. "Choose what GC you wan't, don't worry about any other factor in your choice" then they have the gall to add this crap? Completely ridiculous.

True it probably would've been a better decision to reward cooperation of different companies, but the "greater" rewards probably wont matter that much.

If it affects drop rate that's still a pretty vicious jab to those who want to join whatever company. If they want to pull this whole "casual-friendly, fair for all" card, they're gonna have to follow suit. But as seems to be the common theory, and what I hope is true, is greater gains in company seals, gil, etc. That I could care less about. But better drop rates, different items, things of the nature, need to be squashed ASAP.
Any MMO there is always eltism and as such the path of least resistance will be used to gear what they need. If an entire GC group:
1) Affects the total number of drops; people will run it to get all of their gear sooner
2) Affects the % rate of drops; people will still run it to get the gear sooner
3) Affects dark matter or gil; nobody cares
4) Earn more company seals. If company seals eventually can give us good endgame gear, people will want an all GC group. This may not be relevant for 1.19 but maybe in the future as we get more ranks.
5) gets new different loot.
These are the only 5 I could come up with. 4 of the 5 would promote all GC groups. 1 wouldn't which begs the question if it is just dark matter or gil why the hell would you even bother with this type of reward. It has to be significant enough to mention in patch notes.
It would make sense if the "greater reward" was just more grand company seals. More seals to a team consisting entirely of one company would make sense. I feel however, any greater "gear" reward is based strickly on how the battle is won, and not what company is represented most at the battle.
Gotta keep this thread hot, because I think this will be important in how people assemble groups based on how this is answered.
[The rest of this post can be skipped.]
Players in-game sometimes have different mentalities when assembling a party. Like in Ul'dah, when people are looking for a tank in and you skip up to them as this happy marauder, thinking you're some kind of happy tank person just because you held enmity on a couple dozen leves while partying before. Then realize when they said tank, they really meant gladiator.
Or in FFXI at English launch when they shout, looking for White Mage in Jeuno, you prance up, get to the destination, then they ask, "Why aren't you using the Erase spell during these crawler fights?" "Because I don't have it." "LOL!" *booted*
And I'm thinking, "Aren't I better than nothing?"
The answer for those party leaders is "No." Nothing would be better.
And I feel it in my caboose, it's gonna happen again with Ifrit. Shouting in Ul'dah for an Ifrit party, you join up, someone eventually does a check on you, discover your grand company allegiance, and then it's Red Sauce on Pasta time for you. Not everyone is going to do it, but there's people out there that have the mindset that could do just that.
I really doubt they have different armor and weapon items designed just for people who go in with the same companies, its most likely just Company seals and a bit of extra gil. (I hope)
Why would they have just one goblin in Thanalan to purge materia its a bit senseless, just clone the NPC and stick him in each cities. (This is bullshit SE, fix it)
I agree with the poster above me, SE are underestimating the elitist mentality if they think its not going to matter.

I was planning on joining the Gridania Grand Company, but after reading that, I'm very hesitant. I fear people will be shouting "Looking for Uldah GC people to do Ifrit, others please do not reply!"If the rewards are just seals, gil, or Dark Matter, then whatever, that's fine. If it's actual gear, then there's going to be a problem.

Make the lowest and lower population GC get a greater reward bonus respectively (But im sure it will be seals/gil and so on not anything too important they cant be that dumb) .
And go with the tradeable items from the GC store.. Meaning the UL ones will be worth a lot less then others..
Giving new players at Ps3 pause to think before just going with Flames.
Its a slow fix to a possible issue but a good one over time.
This is pretty infuriating after all the assurances that we could join "whatever grand company we liked best". So I guess everyone gets to spend the next few days trying to convince all their friends to join the grand company they want to join. It'd be nice if we got a quick clarification that the bonus wasn't anything major, but it's already Saturday in Japan so we can't even hope to get a reply on this until Monday, the day before the patch.
