I'm all for timed events, but I feel that whether or not you obtain rewards should be gauged on whether or not you complete it and not whether or not you complete it "fast".
Darkhold in 25 mins didn't turn out to be too much of a problem, though it was still dumb to put 2 of the weapons in that chest when the rest of the classes got their weapons from much easier conditions. This has the potential to be much worse though because people's permanent choices in companies can't be overcome with skill. That's why we're all hoping it's just a few seals or something.

Well why do people all join uldah? Because everyone has the mind set of "Uldah is the best place to be" (Airships and Anima beg to differ), honestly Uldah is fine to have as a merchant hub, but its the players that are combining merchant with everything else in this game. Yes by saying that everyone is going to join Uldah (even though you have no idea) only perpetuates the idea of joining Uldah even if you are saying to not join Uldah BECAUSE it will be overcrowded only perpetuates the idea of joining Uldah.

    Catch my drift?

So like I said just join the 1kCo. that you think you will enjoy the most (storyline wise, content wise, reward wise). You aren't going to get new and exclusive loot from being all in the same company, you'll probably just get either double the chance to obtain the weapons (meaing either: double drops [2 swords] or double the drop rate [50% drop rate instead of 25%]) And this is coming from a veteran XI player, SE likes to make it sound more grand than is it...

I wouldn't let it bother you or affect your choices too much if any at all. 2 cents.

    This is why.

There are myriad reasons why and they all self-reinforce each other.

If you are afraid your friends will throw you under a bus for these weapons (that by the way will most likely be as good or a little weaker than fully materia'd crafted weapons) then you probably need to find new friends. That or you yourself are willing to do it.

Has nothing to do with friends, has to do with everyone else. Not everyoen can ALWAYS play with friends. Sometimes you need to do a pug and this is where the biggest concern is.

Well it seems to me that the only people that would really care about it THAT MUCH would be the hardcores that probably would stay within their LS 100% of the time anyway. So many people are in dislike of the idea that I doubt anyone here would turn someone away.

Omega, if some of us didn't experience some kind of whiplash before, I don't think we would be posting this. Not all the players will be as open-minded as you on this.

[side story below that can be skipped]
I picked Ul'dah at launch, because it seemed to make the most sense for my character. An open trade city that wasn't too prejudiced of outsiders with "Oh you greenwrath scum with your woodsin, take your dark magicks and your tree-chopping axe and split your arse in twain, but don't forget to wear this half mask." or going "Ar' matey, me sweet lass, load me cannon, climb me mast, t'aving ventures beyond, then avast."

It's this desert that people didn't really like. Limsa was the "where it's at" place with their blacksmiths, armorers, sheep with the wind shards, and the whole, "I've been around since Beta, Limsa 4 Life". And somehow... Ul'dah became the new "in"-city. I *want* the other cities to call to people, but they aren't calling to people like Ul'dah calls to people, and it appears it's not restricted to just my server.

And we're mostly concerned that because Ul'dah is the most populated city and most populated wards that it will become the most populated company. And if this announcement is not clarified, it may become the most populated company out of fear and loot chances, which in turn, impacts cross-company parties more than it ever should have.

Ul'dah is the best for one simple reason: it has the best, easiest and fastest to navigate layout of all the cities. It's by FAR the easiest city to get in and out of; you have to run for 30 seconds or more to hit the field in either other city! In Ul'Dah, it's as little as 5 seconds.

The distance between all the things I like to do in Ul'dah is far less than in the other cities... from a looks point of view, LL is the best by far. But Ul'Dah rules and always will!!

This is a non issue, with chocobo's you are instantly transported outside the city.

Hah, only with crap-ass rental chocobos. Your whistle to summon your chocobo isn't going to whisk you out of the gates instantly...
